Take your diving beyond the standard recreational limits and learn how to safely plan and conduct deeper dives. The PADI Deep Diver specialty is one of the most popular advanced certifications, giving experienced divers the skills and knowledge needed to explore deeper underwater environments.
Before arriving, you'll complete the PADI eLearning section, which covers the theory behind deep diving. Topics include pressure effects, gas consumption, safety procedures and the additional planning required when diving deeper than standard recreational depths.
Once the course begins, the focus moves into the water. Across four ocean dives, you'll gradually develop the skills and awareness needed for deeper diving. Your instructor will guide you through practical exercises while helping you understand how depth affects both your equipment and your body.
Training dives take place at suitable sites around Tenerife, allowing you to gain experience in real diving conditions while applying the techniques covered in the course. You'll learn how to plan deeper dives safely, monitor your limits and manage your dive profile effectively.
Upon successful completion, you'll receive the PADI Deep Diver Specialty certification. This qualification allows recreational divers to dive to the maximum recreational depth of 40 metres when diving within their training and experience level.
The course takes place in the South of Tenerife, where a variety of dive sites provide suitable conditions for deep diving training. Clear water and access to deeper underwater terrain make the area an excellent location for this speciality course.
Depending on conditions, training may take place at several different dive sites, helping you experience a range of underwater environments while completing your certification.
You must hold an Advanced Open Water Diver certification or an equivalent qualification from another recognised diving organisation before joining the course.
Participants should be confident in the water, comfortable with their diving equipment and medically fit for scuba diving.
Deep diving requires additional knowledge and experience, and the instructors focus on helping divers develop both safely. Training is delivered in a practical and supportive way, ensuring you understand not only how to dive deeper, but why specific procedures are important.
Tenerife's varied dive sites provide an ideal environment for gaining real-world deep diving experience while working towards a respected PADI speciality certification.
This course is designed for certified divers who already hold an Advanced Open Water Diver certification or an equivalent qualification from another recognised diving federation.
Because the training involves diving beyond standard Open Water limits, participants should already be comfortable with buoyancy control, underwater communication and general diving procedures.
The PADI Deep Diver specialty prepares divers for recreational diving to a maximum depth of 40 metres.
This is the deepest limit permitted within recreational scuba diving and requires additional planning and awareness compared to shallower dives.
Many interesting dive sites around the world are deeper than 18 or 30 metres, including walls, reefs, wrecks and underwater formations.
The course teaches you how to approach these dives safely and gives dive operators confidence that you have received specialist training for deeper environments.
The certification includes four ocean dives completed over two days.
Each dive builds on the previous one, helping you gradually develop the skills and understanding required for deeper diving.
You'll learn about deep dive planning, gas management, depth awareness, safety procedures and how diving deeper affects both the body and equipment.
The course also covers practical techniques that help divers remain comfortable and in control at greater depths.
Yes. PADI eLearning is included and allows you to complete the theory section before or during the course.
This flexible format means more of your time in Tenerife can be spent diving rather than sitting in a classroom.
