Three surf sessions, one paddle and two nights in a shared house fill a weekend for women on this coast. First-timers and people who already stand share the same group. Wetsuits, boards and Friday check-in from 4pm are included, with a Sunday finish around 4pm.
Arrival is Friday from 4pm, then a first evening with the group. Saturday and Sunday each have a morning and afternoon session, ordered around swell, wind and tide. Each water block lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours. Instructors collect you at the house at 9am on Saturday.
Checkout is by 10am on Sunday, then you still have two sessions. Anyone who wants a quieter start should say so at the Saturday brief so the coach can keep them closer.
The weekend uses Freshwater West or Manorbier for surf. The paddle usually runs at Stackpole Quay, Tenby North Beach or Saundersfoot. Water is picked to suit the forecast that weekend.
South Pembrokeshire is where the house sits, close to those beaches. You travel together from the door. Parking sits at the house. The pin comes once the stay is confirmed.
Eighteen, and happy in the sea. Able to swim about 25 metres is enough. No surfing or paddleboarding experience is needed. Most guests come on their own.
Swimwear, a towel, a warm layer and a towel robe cover the basics. Your own full-length wetsuit is fine. Tell us your dress size and any medical notes that affect time in the water.
These weekends have run for more than 16 years. Coaches hold ISA awards and work as beach lifeguards. The group stays at ten or fewer, so you are not lost in a crowd on the beach or in the house.
Kit is fitted for the sessions. The house is shared, so you meet everyone on Friday rather than arriving cold to a car park on Saturday morning.
The house pin and directions land before Friday. Check-in is from 4pm. Instructors meet you outside the house at 9am on Saturday.
Parking sits at the house. You travel together to the beaches. Car sharing is the usual way between sessions.
Check-in from 4pm on Friday. Saturday starts at 9am outside the house, then a morning and afternoon session. Sunday is checkout by 10am, then morning and afternoon sessions, finishing around 4pm.
Three surf lessons and one paddle sit across the weekend. Each water session lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours. The order follows swell, wind and tide rather than a fixed timetable.
Women aged 18 and over, including people who come on their own. Most guests arrive solo and meet the rest of the group on Friday evening.
Happy in the sea and able to swim about 25 metres is enough. No surfing or paddleboarding experience is needed. Tell us any medical notes that affect time in the water.
Shared accommodation for Friday and Saturday night, three surf sessions, one paddle, and wetsuits, surfboards and paddleboards for the water time. Instructors stay with the group for the sessions.
Food, travel to Pembrokeshire and personal insurance sit outside the package. Most houses have a kitchen so you can make breakfast. Saturday evening is usually a pub meal that you pay for on the night.
House details land before the weekend. It will be a shared stay in South Pembrokeshire, often a country house near Stackpole or a seaside stay in Saundersfoot or Tenby.
Check-in is from 4pm on Friday. Instructors meet you outside at 9am on Saturday. Parking sits at the house. Directions and a pin follow once the house is set.
Surf usually runs at Freshwater West or Manorbier. The paddle usually runs at Stackpole Quay, Tenby North Beach or Saundersfoot. Water is picked to suit the forecast that weekend.
You travel together from the house. Car sharing is the usual way between beaches. A rough plan comes the week before, then the Saturday brief fills the gaps.
Ordinary rain does not cancel the weekend. The beach moves, or the paddle and the surf swap, when swell or wind makes the planned spot unsafe.
Messages the week before and the evening before each day carry the next pin. The weekend stays on this coast, just not always on the same stretch if a beach is closed or flat.
Swimwear, a towel, a warm dry layer, sunscreen, a refillable bottle and shoes you can walk over pebbles in. A towel robe helps because most beaches have no changing rooms. Your own full-length wetsuit is fine.
Send your dress size so a suit is ready. Sizes 6 to 20 are the usual range. Leave valuables at the house rather than on the sand.
Yes. Most women on these weekends arrive on their own. Friday evening and the Saturday brief are there so you meet the group before the first session.
Water time stays together. You are not left to find your own way between the house and the beach. Nervous about coming solo? Say so before you arrive so the instructors can keep you closer at the start.
Most houses have a kitchen for breakfast and packed lunches. Beaches have cafes if you want to buy lunch. Saturday evening is usually a booked pub table for the group.
Snacks for the middle of the day help. A refillable bottle too. The Saturday meal plan comes with the house details.
Able to swim about 25 metres and happy in the sea is the bar. First stands stay in water you can stand in, but you still fall in. Instructors stay with the group.
Very nervous? Say so in advance. The weekend can spend longer on the first minutes in the white water and keep you closer to the coach.

Leon was an amazing instructor
Hi, thanks it was great, 5 stars, great teacher. Cheers, Sarah
Our booking was at midday for 2 hours, but we didn’t get the stuff until 12:15 when the lady came back with the surf school. We were then told to bring the stuff back before 2 pm or she wouldn’t be there (we needed to get our deposit back). This…
Got some surfboards and wetsuits for a couple of hours. They were dropped off at the right place right time, he was very helpful and knowledgeable, gave us a little info about the beach because we hadn't surfed there before. Will definitely be using again and recommending
