This seven-night retreat pairs six surf lessons with four yoga sessions and two massages, staying in a self-catering apartment or on a campsite near Gwithian Beach. Yoga is with Drew at Ilani Yoga, and all surf and yoga kit is included for the week.
Throughout the week, you'll enjoy daily surf lessons tailored to your level, with supportive instructors guiding you on everything from paddling to catching waves. Complementing your surfing, yoga with Drew at Ilani Yoga uses Vinyasa and Yin to focus on flexibility, strength, and recovery. Each session is designed to support surf fitness and is tailored to your needs.
With two massage sessions included, you'll have plenty of time to relax and unwind, allowing tired muscles to recover and mental tension to melt away. For those interested, we can also arrange optional spa sessions for added relaxation.
Set against the backdrop of St Ives Bay, Gwithian Beach is a stunning five-mile stretch of golden sands and turquoise waves, perfect for learning to surf, practising yoga, or simply enjoying the view.
Nestled between the bustling town of St Ives and the scenic Godrevy headland, Gwithian offers both the tranquillity and amenities to make your retreat special. Beach access is easy, and local cafes offer fresh, healthy meals for refuelling after your sessions.
We have two accommodation options.
Stay just a 10-minute walk to the beach. Our modern one- or two-bedroom apartments offer cosy lounges, fully fitted kitchens, and comfortable amenities, making them a home away from home all to yourself.
For those who love the outdoors, we offer a friendly, no-frills experience. The site provides clean facilities, showers, and an amenity tent with a fridge and charging points. It's a great way to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Cornwall.
All levels are welcome, from complete beginners to intermediate surfers and yogis. No prior yoga or surfing experience is needed.
Please inform us of any medical conditions or injuries before booking so we can adapt the retreat to suit your needs.
We're committed to providing an experience that goes beyond typical surf and yoga retreats. With our prime location at Gwithian Beach, professional surf coaches and yoga instructors, and a thoughtful balance of activity and relaxation, we offer a retreat that caters to both body and mind.
The collaboration with Drew at Ilani Yoga keeps the yoga personal. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced surfer, you'll find a warm, welcoming environment and a retreat that leaves you feeling rejuvenated.
You'll find us by Lula's (formerly the Rockpool Bar & Grill) just outside the village of Gwithian. The surf school and shop is within a 15-minute drive of St Ives and Hayle, and about 30 minutes from Penzance and Newquay.
By car, take the Hayle exit (near M&S) from the A30. After the Hayle exit roundabout you'll come to a double roundabout; take the third exit onto the B3301 towards Gwithian. Drive for about three miles, go through the village, then turn left after the humpback bridge. We're in the building just to the right of Lula's, with parking available year-round.
Please bring swimwear for under your wetsuit, a towel, sunscreen, and comfortable clothing for yoga. For self-catering apartments, you may also wish to bring groceries or shop locally.
For camping, bring any personal camping essentials. The site already provides showers, a fridge, and charging points.

Yes, we do. With surfing you tend to get very wet anyway so it's an activity that rain doesn't affect too much.
We wouldn't go into the sea if there was thunder and lightning, fog and mist, or during a hailstorm. Yoga and massage still run indoors if the beach day needs to shift.
We ask that all our customers be able to swim at least 50m in open water, be at least 6 years of age, and free from any medical problem that might put you, our coaches, or other customers, at risk.
You don't need to be a marathon runner or Olympic swimmer to take part but if you have a chance to do a few lengths in a swimming pool in the weeks before your lesson it will make surfing a lot easier for you. However, don't worry if you haven't been to the pool in years, you will still be able to achieve a lot during the lessons and even just catching a wave is one of the simplest pleasures that there is.
Yes you can. While the surf school does close during the winter we can still provide lessons if you give us advance warning.
This retreat itself runs on selected weeks from April to October. Get in touch if you want surf time outside those dates and we'll let you know what we can arrange.
The most important thing is to bring something to wear underneath your wetsuit. Something thin like a bathing costume or speedos are ideal as they are comfortable and won't bunch up. Underwear and boxers will do but you should avoid swimming shorts, trunks or t-shirts as they can be uncomfortable.
You should also bring a towel, a good quality high-factor sunscreen and some flip flops or old shoes for the walk to the beach, plus comfortable clothing for yoga.
Yes, they are. All of the equipment that you need for a surfing lesson are provided free of charge. This includes surfboards, wetsuits and, during the colder months, gloves, booties and hood.
Yoga mats and SUP boards are included for the week as well, so you don't need to travel with kit unless you prefer your own.
Not at all! Our retreat is suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to intermediate surfers and yogis.
Our instructors will tailor the lessons to your experience and goals, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and challenged.

You can choose self-catering apartments, which offer cosy lounges, fitted kitchens, and comfortable bedrooms, just a short walk from the beach.
Or you can camp at a friendly, no-frills site with modern amenities, including showers and a common area for campers.
Absolutely! While we provide all necessary equipment, you're welcome to bring your own surfboard, wetsuit, or yoga mat if you prefer.
Just let us know so we can still have a school board or mat ready as a spare if you want one.
Yes, Gwithian offers several cafes and beach bars where you can grab healthy meals and snacks. Self-catering facilities in the apartments and the nearby shops make it easy to prepare meals as well.
We're happy to recommend local dining spots based on your preferences.
The package includes two massages per person, but if you'd like additional sessions or other spa treatments, these can be arranged separately.
Please let us know in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements with the therapist.
Yes, we offer some flexibility to customise your retreat experience. If you'd like to add extra surf or yoga sessions, massages, or other activities, just let us know.
We'll do our best to accommodate around the core week of six surf lessons, four yoga sessions, and two massages.
