Build confidence on moving water and develop your paddling skills with a whitewater kayaking course led by experienced instructors. Whether you're completely new to the sport or looking to refine advanced techniques, these small-group courses provide practical training in some of southern Spain's most popular whitewater locations.
Training is delivered in small groups, allowing instructors to provide personalised coaching and feedback throughout the course. Sessions combine practical river time with classroom-based learning using videos, images, and technical demonstrations.
Beginner Whitewater Kayaking Course
Perfect for those new to whitewater kayaking, this course introduces the equipment, safety systems, paddling techniques, and basic river skills needed to get started. Participants learn step by step while gaining confidence on the water in a supportive environment.
Advanced Whitewater Kayaking Course
Designed for paddlers with previous experience, the advanced course begins with an assessment of current ability levels before focusing on individual development. Training may include advanced paddling techniques, rescue and self-rescue procedures, support strokes, river positioning, and Eskimo roll practice.
Between sessions, participants can relax at the facilities, which include hot showers, a classroom area, Wi-Fi, and refreshments. River locations may vary depending on weather conditions and water levels to ensure the best training environment possible.
Course locations are selected from two of Andalusia's most popular whitewater destinations. Depending on river conditions, training takes place either on the Genil River near Benamejí in Córdoba or on the Guadalfeo River near Órgiva in Granada.
Both rivers offer excellent environments for skill development, combining accessible training sections with varied water conditions. Surrounded by mountains, countryside, and natural landscapes, they provide ideal settings for learning and progressing in the sport.
The beginner course is suitable for newcomers with no previous kayaking experience. Participants must be able to swim confidently and have a reasonable level of fitness to take part in river-based activities.
For the advanced course, previous whitewater kayaking experience is required. Participants should already be comfortable paddling on moving water and must provide their own approved kayaking and safety equipment.
Drawing on more than 15 years of international paddling experience, the instructional team combines technical expertise with a practical and supportive teaching approach. Their qualifications include sports coaching certifications, international rafting leadership credentials, and specialist rescue training.
The focus is always on helping participants improve safely while enjoying the learning process. Small group sizes allow instructors to adapt training to individual needs and ensure everyone receives valuable feedback throughout the course.
The beginner course is designed for people with little or no whitewater kayaking experience. Training focuses on learning the fundamentals of paddling, safety procedures, equipment use, and confidence-building on moving water.
The advanced course is aimed at paddlers who already have experience and want to improve specific skills. Training is tailored to individual abilities and focuses on more technical river techniques and rescue procedures.
No previous kayaking experience is required. The course has been designed to introduce newcomers to whitewater kayaking in a structured and supportive environment.
Instructors guide participants through each stage of the learning process, helping them develop confidence and skills gradually over the two days.
The advanced course is intended for paddlers who already have experience kayaking on moving water and wish to improve their technique.
An initial assessment helps instructors identify strengths and areas for improvement, allowing training to be adapted to the needs of each participant.
Yes. River safety forms an important part of both courses, with participants learning rescue and self-rescue concepts appropriate to their experience level.
Advanced participants will spend more time developing technical rescue skills and understanding how to respond to situations commonly encountered on whitewater rivers.
Beginner participants are generally provided with the equipment required for the course, allowing them to focus on learning without needing to purchase specialist gear.
Advanced participants are expected to bring their own kayak, paddle, buoyancy aid, helmet, and other personal equipment. This allows them to train using gear they are already familiar with.
Training takes place either on the Genil River in Córdoba or the Guadalfeo River in Granada. The final choice depends on weather conditions and water levels at the time of the course.
Both rivers provide excellent training environments and allow instructors to select suitable sections based on participant experience levels.
