Family 4×4 Driving Experience

This is a self-drive family experience, not a passenger ride. Adults and juniors aged 12 to 17 take turns behind the wheel, with a BORDA-trained instructor in the vehicle throughout to give guidance and support.

The adult drives on a more technical section of the course, while the junior driver starts on flatter ground before their session is tailored to their confidence and ability.

Junior drivers must be aged between 12 and 17 years old. No driving licence is required for junior or adult drivers, since all driving takes place on private land.

Younger children who aren't driving are welcome as passengers, provided you bring and fit an appropriate child seat.

The 60-minute session suits 1 adult and 1 junior driver, the 90-minute session suits 1 adult and 2 junior drivers, and the full 2-hour session suits 2 adults and 2 junior drivers.

Choose based on how many family members want a turn behind the wheel, since longer sessions give more people time to drive.

No, a driving licence is not required for either adult or junior drivers. The whole session takes place on private land, so the usual legal requirements for road driving don't apply.

This makes it accessible for junior drivers below driving age, and for adults who haven't yet passed their test.

The course is set in private woodland and includes muddy tracks, water crossings, steep inclines and descents, and gravity-defying side slopes for adult drivers, alongside flatter, gentler terrain for junior drivers to start on.

The instructor adjusts the route and pace to suit whoever is behind the wheel at the time.

Yes, younger children can join as passengers, though you'll need to bring and fit your own appropriate child seat. They'll be able to watch and enjoy the ride while older family members take their turn driving.

The vehicle and course are designed with safety in mind throughout, whether occupants are driving or riding along.

Comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little muddy is recommended, along with sturdy footwear with good grip. Layers are useful as woodland conditions can be cooler than expected.

No specialist equipment is needed, the vehicle and instruction are provided, though you should bring a child seat if travelling with a younger passenger.

Yes, the BORDA-trained instructor stays in the vehicle throughout the session, giving a five-minute demonstration drive at the start and then coaching each family member as they take their turn at the wheel.

This ensures both adult and junior drivers get consistent guidance and support across the whole booking.

The experience takes place on a private 40-acre woodland site featuring a mix of terrain, from technical sections with mud, water and steep gradients to gentler, flatter ground suited to junior drivers.

The variety allows the instructor to tailor each family member's drive to their confidence and skill level within the same session.

Nottingham Off Road Events reserves the right to cancel a booking before the arrangements begin due to force majeure or other circumstances outside their control, in which case a full refund or credit toward a future booking will be offered.
