The WingSurf Foil Advanced Clinic - Sustained Flights is designed to take your wing foiling skills to the next level. In this clinic, you will focus on achieving longer, more consistent flights, staying upwind, and learning to make turns while foiling. This advanced course is intended to be completed multiple times as you refine your technique and develop the ability to maintain sustained flight. It's ideal for riders who have already mastered the basics of foiling and are ready to improve their control and confidence on the water.
During the WingSurf Foil Advanced Clinic - Sustained Flights, you will focus on the following key areas:
The goal of the Sustained Flights Clinic is to build your confidence and skill level so that you can achieve longer, sustained flights, hold ground upwind and downwind, and start learning foiling gybes. This course provides the advanced knowledge and hands-on practice needed to progress towards full control while foiling.
The clinic takes place at Hove Lagoon, a safe, shallow lagoon that offers the perfect conditions for developing sustained foiling skills. The lagoon’s waist-deep water allows for easy resets during training, and its proximity to the sea means you can progress to open water when conditions are right.
This clinic is aimed at riders who have completed the Intermediate First Flights Clinic and have some experience with getting onto the foil. You should have solid wing and board control and have begun foiling in earlier sessions. If you’re unsure whether this course is right for you, feel free to contact us for advice.
At Hove Lagoon, we provide an ideal environment for progressing your wing foiling skills. Our calm, shallow waters are perfect for learning and practising new techniques, while the nearby sea allows you to experience more dynamic conditions once you're ready. Our RYA-certified instructors are experienced in guiding participants through all stages of wing foiling, ensuring that you receive expert coaching and develop your skills safely.
In addition to the water facilities, Hove Lagoon is part of a larger public park with activities for the whole family. Our on-site licensed café, kids’ play area, and skate park make it a great location for both participants and spectators.

What to bring:
What not to bring:
This clinic is designed for intermediate to advanced wing foilers who have already completed the Intermediate First Flights Clinic and are comfortable getting onto the foil. If you're able to control the wing and board but want to improve your sustained flight, this clinic is for you.
The clinic will help you:
Yes, advanced wing foiling can be physically demanding. The session involves maintaining balance on the foil, pumping, and learning turns, which requires good strength, coordination, and endurance. You should be in reasonably good physical condition to participate.
No, all necessary equipment is provided, including the wing, foil, board, wetsuit, helmet, and impact vest. You only need to bring swimwear to wear under your wetsuit and a towel for after the session.
To ensure each participant gets personalised attention, group sizes are limited to 4 participants per session. This small group setting allows for tailored coaching and plenty of hands-on time with the instructor.
We run the session in most weather conditions, but if the wind is too light or too strong, we may reschedule for safety reasons. If the session is cancelled due to weather, we will arrange an alternative date for you at no extra cost.
The water at Hove Lagoon is regularly tested by Brighton and Hove City Council to ensure it meets high safety standards. Fresh seawater is added regularly, and while harmless algae may appear at times, it is managed carefully to keep the water clean and safe for all participants.
Our instructors are experienced and will provide guidance tailored to your skill level. If you find a particular aspect challenging, the instructor will adjust the session to focus on areas that need improvement. It's normal to take a few sessions to feel fully comfortable with sustained flights, so patience and practice are key.
