We had an amazing time! Beautiful location and a great guide!

This five-day technical winter climbing course is for mountain enthusiasts ready to push their skills into steeper, more challenging terrain. Based in the heart of Torridon and Fisherfield, the trip combines guided climbing with instructional progression, with options for either full board or self-catered stays.
This is a practical and hands-on climbing course designed to build confidence on steeper ground. Throughout the five days, you’ll work closely with your guide on classic winter routes across Torridon, Fisherfield, and occasionally Skye, depending on weather. Instruction is tailored to your level, but expect to focus on techniques for winter belays, climbing movement, placing protection, and multi-pitch strategies. Low group ratios ensure plenty of one-to-one time on the rope, and by the end of the trip, you’ll have developed a solid technical foundation for winter climbing in Scotland or the Alps.
Each day starts with a briefing over breakfast to assess conditions and agree on the best location. Some days may be best spent climbing on Liathach’s steep buttresses or the hidden gullies of Beinn Eighe. Others may take you out to An Teallach for longer ridgelines and big descents. The terrain is serious, but the instruction supports your learning throughout. This is ideal for those looking to climb independently in the future or simply wanting to experience quiet, remote winter climbs with expert guidance. Expect to be moving across snowfields, ice, and exposed rock with a mixture of roped climbing and mountaineering techniques.
If you choose the Fully Inclusive option, you’ll stay six nights in a comfortable guest house near Lochcarron or Applecross. All meals are provided, including homemade dinners and packed lunches for the hill. You'll return each day to a warm fire, local food, and the chance to relax and review the day. All instruction, specialist equipment, and in-area transport are included, with no hidden costs.
Opting for Trip Only means you arrange your own accommodation and meals, except for nights spent wild camping if included. We’re happy to recommend reliable local options in Lochcarron and Applecross. You’ll still receive full guiding and instruction, access to specialist equipment, and in-area transport during the course. This is a great fit if you prefer to customise your stay or keep to a specific budget.
