



Join us for a 3-day adventure walking the Sandstone Trail, a gorgeous 34-mile route through the heart of Cheshire. This guided experience is perfect for those looking to enjoy beautiful landscapes, historic landmarks, and a relaxed pace in a small, sociable group. With knowledgeable guides, great accommodation, and a chance to make new friends, this is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the beauty of the region.
Day 1:
The adventure begins in Frodsham, a charming market town on the Mersey Estuary. After meeting your guide and group, you’ll set off along the trail, passing through scenic countryside and wooded paths. Highlights of the day include beautiful views from sandstone ridges and peaceful rural surroundings. The walk concludes at your first accommodation, where you can relax and enjoy a cosy evening.
Day 2:
The trail continues through some of Cheshire’s most iconic landscapes. You’ll pass through Delamere Forest, a sprawling woodland known for its peacefulness. Along the way, you'll visit Beeston Castle, a historic fortress offering amazing panoramic views. A packed lunch is provided, and luggage will be transferred to your next accommodation, where you can unwind after a rewarding day of walking.
Day 3:
On the final day, the walk leads you through rolling hills and scenic farmland, with opportunities to explore additional historic sites and landmarks. The trail concludes in the Georgian town of Whitchurch, where you can celebrate completing the journey. Transport back to Frodsham will be provided if needed, or you may choose to explore Whitchurch further before departing.
The Sandstone Trail spans 34 miles across Cheshire, beginning in the historic market town of Frodsham, located on the Mersey Estuary. Along the way, you'll pass through iconic sites like Delamere Forest, Beeston Castle perched atop its dramatic crag, and several scenic manor houses and historic locks along the Shropshire Union Canal. The trail concludes in the Georgian town of Whitchurch, Shropshire, providing a fitting end to a journey that showcases the diverse natural beauty and rich history of this captivating region.
You will stay in comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation for two nights. If preferred, single occupancy rooms can be arranged upon request.
Both accommodations are situated conveniently along the trail and provide a relaxing environment to unwind after each day's walk.

The terrain varies, but the walk is at a relaxed pace, so no prior hiking experience is necessary. Participants should be comfortable walking for several hours each day.

While the walk is at a relaxed pace, a basic level of fitness is recommended. The trail includes a mix of flat and hilly terrain, so participants should be comfortable walking for several hours each day.
You don’t need to have previous hiking experience, but you should be prepared for a physically active 3 days.
We aim to run the walk regardless of the weather, as the conditions are often part of the adventure.
However, if weather conditions are deemed dangerous (e.g., extreme storms), we will adjust the itinerary or reschedule the activity, and you will be informed promptly.
You will stay in comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation, with one night each on Days 1 and 2.
Both venues are chosen for their welcoming atmosphere and convenient location along the trail. Evening meals are not included, but both accommodations offer food at an additional cost.
