Gain the confidence and skills to navigate mountainous terrain with precision. Designed for individuals eager to explore the outdoors independently, this course equips you with essential navigation techniques, enabling you to fully enjoy the beauty of the fells.
On Day 1, you'll begin at a local venue in Lancashire. The session focuses on fundamental navigation skills, including understanding map contours, interpreting the surrounding landscape, and mastering compass use for bearings. You'll also practise pacing and timing to track distances effectively. With hands-on activities, the day ensures you develop a solid foundation in navigation techniques.
On Day 2, the course shifts to the scenic Langdale Valley in the Lake District. Building on the previous day's skills, you'll apply your learning in mountainous terrain, navigating through more complex environments. This practical day is designed to consolidate your understanding, allowing you to navigate confidently while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
If you're the sole participant, the course will run in a slightly condensed format (approximately 1.5 days), ensuring personalised instruction and no cancellations or delays.
