Quiet lanes, dramatic dams, abandoned villages, lush forest sections and remote gravel tracks make this a compact ride with plenty of variety. Expect steady climbs, wide-open moorland and sweeping descents through some of Wales’ most distinctive landscapes.
This is a self-guided route, with detailed navigation, full kit provision and backup support on hand should you need it.
Meals are at your own expense, with suggested pubs and cafés provided. Breakfast is included for B&B guests. Campers receive Firepot porridge and hot drinks. Lunches can be picked up en route or packed. Dinner is available at the local pub — we’ll book a table in advance as it’s the only one for miles.
Designed to blend physical challenge with time to appreciate the landscape. Expect meandering climbs, exposed moorland, long gravel sections and some rough terrain. You should be comfortable riding 3–5 hours per day.
This route crosses remote landscapes with minimal services between start and finish points. You’ll need to carry snacks and lunch on both days.
If you’re not cycling regularly, start commuting by bike or join a few spin classes. Any saddle time helps build comfort and confidence for the trip.
Remember, space on the bike is limited — pack light and stick to the kit list. Avoid bulky items and choose packable fabrics like merino, microfleece and lightweight synthetics.
