You'll be trying electric mountain biking the easy way on a private taste-of session near Dalvík, riding high-end e-MTBs on fun local trails with your own instructor whether you are new to off-road cycling or simply want a short burst of adventure on capable bikes.
Your session begins at the base with a bike fit, safety briefing and a few minutes to understand how the electric assist works before you head onto local trails matched to your comfort level. You'll be building confidence quickly because the motor takes care of the climbs, leaving you free to focus on handling, balance and the simple joy of riding off-road.
Complete beginners get a gentle introduction on easy lines, curious first-timers can see whether e-MTB is their thing, and more experienced riders can push for a quicker, more adventurous hour if that is what you are after. Your guide shapes the session around your goals so the hour feels purposeful rather than rushed.
The session uses trails close to Dalvík on the shores of Eyjafjörður, so you'll be riding proper North Iceland scenery without a long transfer from the town base. Landscapes mix coastal views with rideable paths that feel accessible even if you have only ever cycled on roads or bike paths before.
It's a brilliant taster if you are considering a longer private tour in the valley or out to Hrísey island and want to feel how the bikes handle first. Dalvík's trail network close to town makes it easy to pack a lot of fun into a single hour.
You'll need to be at least 15 and comfortable on a regular bicycle, but you do not need any prior mountain biking experience for this session. Your guide adapts trail choice to your ability within the hour, so you can keep things mellow or ask for something a little more lively if you are feeling confident.
Windproof, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear are recommended because even a short ride in Icelandic trail weather benefits from sensible layers. If you are unsure about sizing or ability, mention it when you book and your guide will plan accordingly.
You'll be on premium e-MTBs with essential riding kit included, and because this is a private session your instructor can give you real attention rather than splitting focus across a large group. That makes it a friendly, low-pressure way to try a sport that can feel intimidating when you are starting out.
It works equally well as a first step into e-mountain biking or a focused skills burst if you already ride and want to sample the local trails on high-end bikes. Your guide can suggest a longer tour afterward if you finish the hour keen for more time on the trails around Dalvík.
This is a private session for your group only, with one to four riders per booking. The short format lets your guide focus entirely on your confidence and comfort on the e-MTBs.
If your group is larger than four, get in touch before you book and we can discuss arrangements.
The minimum age is 15 years. Every rider must also be tall enough to use a size S e-bike safely. Contact us before you book if you are unsure about fit.
All riders should be comfortable on a regular bicycle before trying off-road e-MTB trails.
This one-hour taster is fully tailored to your needs. Complete beginners get a gentle introduction on easy trails, while more experienced riders can enjoy a short burst of flowing local singletrack.
Tell your guide your background at the start so they can shape the session around your goals, whether that is confidence building or a quick adrenaline hit.
High-end electric mountain bikes, helmets, gloves, glasses and jerseys are included for your private group. Your guide leads the whole session and helps with bike setup at the base.
We prepare everything on Stórhólsvegur before you head onto the trails together.
Meet at Stórhólsvegur 5, Dalvík (620). Arrive in good time for your booked slot so your guide can fit bikes and run a short safety briefing before the hour begins.
Parking is available near the base. You'll need to make your own way to the meeting point.
Windproof and waterproof outdoor clothing plus sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended. Even on a short ride, Icelandic weather can change quickly around the fjord.
Riding gloves are provided, but bring a warm layer if you feel the cold easily.
We run sessions in most conditions, but extreme wind, ice or heavy rain can affect which trails we use. Your guide chooses safe, fun routes for the day.
If we need to change plans for weather or safety, we'll contact you using the details on your booking.
One hour is enough to try premium e-MTBs on local trails with private instruction, but it is a taster rather than a full tour. Many guests book a longer valley or island tour after enjoying the intro session.
Your guide can suggest which longer route might suit you based on how the hour goes.
After you book, we'll email you a pre-tour preparation note with practical tips for your date.
Check your inbox and spam folder in the days before your session, and reply if we ask for sizing details.
Absolutely. Many guests use the taster to see how they feel on an e-MTB before booking a longer private tour in the valley or out to Hrísey island.
Your guide can talk you through the options at the end of the session based on your confidence and what you enjoyed most during the hour.
