You'll be exploring one of North Iceland's most charming valleys on a private electric mountain bike tour from Dalvík, with your guide leading a small group of up to four through farmland, riverside paths and forest trails while wide views open over Svarfaðadal, Eyjafjörður and Hrísey island.
Your tour starts with a gentle warm-up through Dalvík so you can settle onto the high-end e-MTBs before the valley opens up in front of you. You'll be rolling along easy farmland tracks and riverside paths where the electric assist keeps the mood relaxed and the pedalling light, even when the landscape starts to climb.
Mid-route you'll cross the river on a suspension bridge and dip into a small forest with flowing trails that feel playful without being intimidating. The ride finishes with a stop at the rural country shop at Vellir, where homemade local treats are part of the charm, before you'll be heading back to base with your guide.
Svarfaðadalur stretches inland from Eyjafjörður through open farmland, a peaceful river and a nature reserve that feels a world away from the harbour bustle in Dalvík. Early in the ride you'll be pausing at a viewpoint that looks out over the fjord and Hrísey, one of the most distinctive island landscapes in North Iceland.
You'll ride quiet gravel tracks, riverside paths and short forest sections, so you'll see a softer side of Icelandic countryside that suits riders who want scenery and gentle off-road cycling rather than technical challenges. It's an easy-going valley tour that still feels like a proper adventure.
You won't need any mountain biking experience for this tour, though you should be happy on a bicycle for a few hours on easy off-road surfaces like gravel and grass. If you already ride off-road, you'll be able to ask your guide for slightly spicier trail options where conditions allow.
Windproof, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear are worth packing because valley weather can turn breezy even on a bright day. It's one of the most welcoming e-MTB routes in the area if you are curious about electric bikes but do not want anything too demanding.
You'll be riding premium e-MTBs on a private tour, which means your guide can linger at viewpoints, adjust the pace for photos and keep the whole valley feeling unhurried. Equipment and a traditional Icelandic snack are part of your day, so you can simply enjoy the ride and the changing scenery.
It's ideal if you want a scenic, feel-good half-day on two wheels without needing prior trail experience. Local knowledge, small groups and a route that mixes culture, nature and easy pedalling make Svarfaðadalur a lovely introduction to North Iceland by e-bike.
This is a private tour for your group only, with one to four riders per booking. That keeps the pace flexible and lets your guide tailor trail choice to your ability rather than waiting for strangers.
If your group is larger than four, get in touch before you book and we can arrange a private departure or split the group.
There's no set minimum age, but every rider must be tall enough to use a size S e-bike safely and confidently. Younger or shorter riders should contact us before you book so we can confirm bike fit.
All riders should be comfortable cycling for several hours on easy off-road terrain including gravel tracks and gentle forest paths.
You don't need any mountain biking experience for this tour. The valley route uses easy rolling tracks, riverside paths and short forest trails suited to beginners on electric bikes.
If you already ride off-road, tell your guide at the start and they can add more adventurous lines where conditions and group confidence allow.
High-end electric mountain bikes, helmets, gloves, glasses, jerseys and a traditional Icelandic snack are included for your private group. Your guide leads the whole session and helps with bike setup.
We prepare everything at the base on Stórhólsvegur before you head into the valley together.
Meet at Stórhólsvegur 5, Dalvík (620). Arrive in good time for your booked departure so your guide can fit bikes, check settings and run a short introduction ride through town.
Parking is available near the base. You'll need to make your own way to the meeting point.
Windproof and waterproof outdoor clothing plus sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended. Dress in layers for changing valley weather around Eyjafjörður.
Riding gloves are provided, but bring extra warm layers if you feel the cold easily on exposed viewpoints.
We run tours in most conditions, but extreme wind, ice or heavy rain can affect which trails we use. Your guide chooses safe routes for the day and may shorten exposed sections if needed.
If we need to change plans for weather or safety, we'll contact you using the details on your booking.
You'll pause at a viewpoint over Svarfaðadal, Eyjafjörður and Hrísey, ride peaceful riverside tracks past farmland and a nature reserve, cross a suspension bridge, follow forest trails and stop at the Vellir country shop.
Your guide shares local knowledge along the way and adjusts the pace so you have time to enjoy the scenery and take photos.
After you book, we'll email you a pre-tour preparation note with practical tips for your date.
Check your inbox and spam folder in the days before your tour, and reply if we ask for sizing or experience details.
A traditional Icelandic snack is provided on the trail, and the ride also stops at the Vellir country shop where you can browse homemade local treats. Any extra purchases at the shop are yours to enjoy and pay for separately.
Your guide will point out what is worth trying and leave enough time to look around without rushing the rest of the ride.
