A refreshing mix of activity and relaxation, this package brings together archery practice and a taste of local produce. You’ll spend time outdoors overlooking the Dornoch Firth before unwinding with a cup of Dornoch Tea grown right on Sydera Croft.
Your day begins with collection from your accommodation in the Dornoch area, followed by a short journey to the range overlooking the Dornoch Firth. Here, you’ll take part in a one-hour archery session, where your instructor will guide you through the basics of stance, draw, and aim. The session is suitable for beginners as well as those looking to refine their skills, with the added bonus of an impressive Highland backdrop.
Once the archery lesson is complete, the focus shifts from activity to relaxation. You’ll be introduced to Dornoch Tea, grown and produced on Sydera Croft itself. Sitting back with a warm cup allows you to appreciate not just the flavour, but also the story behind the tea and its connection to the land around you. It’s a chance to enjoy a slower pace and leave with both new skills and a sense of calm.
The archery session takes place overlooking the Dornoch Firth, a striking estuary where tidal waters meet the North Sea. This setting offers wide views and a peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal location to learn and practise the sport.
The tea element of the experience is rooted in Sydera Croft, where Dornoch Tea is grown and carefully produced. Sampling it on-site gives you a genuine connection to the area’s produce, tying the outdoor activity with a taste of the Highlands itself.
No prior experience is required for the archery session, as all instruction and equipment are provided. Participants only need to be comfortable handling sporting equipment under supervision.
For the tea tasting, no prerequisites are necessary—just an interest in local flavours and an open mind to enjoy something produced in the Highlands. Comfortable outdoor clothing and footwear are recommended for the first part of the experience.
The package is designed to highlight both the physical and cultural sides of the Highlands, giving you more than just a single activity. By pairing archery with tea tasting, it offers variety while still keeping things relaxed and easy to fit into your day.
The team specialises in small-group sessions, which means every detail is personalised. With guidance from knowledgeable instructors and access to locally grown tea, the Targets and Tea package delivers an authentic and memorable Highland experience.
There is currently no public transport directly to the venue, so it’s best to travel by car or arrange a taxi.
By road:

From the north, take the A9 south towards Inverness. Just before the Dornoch Firth bridge, turn left towards Cuthill and continue along the single-track road for about three minutes.
Nearest town:
The closest town is Dornoch. It has bus links to Inverness, Tain, Golspie, and other nearby villages. For full bus routes and timetables, visit the Stagecoach website. The experience is planned as a 2 hour session, giving you one hour of archery followed by one hour to relax and enjoy Dornoch Tea. The schedule allows enough time for both activities to be meaningful without feeling rushed.
By keeping the package short, it’s easy to fit into a day of exploring the Highlands. It can serve as either a morning or afternoon activity, leaving you free to enjoy other parts of Dornoch and its surroundings.
No prior experience is needed, as the archery lesson begins with a full safety briefing and step-by-step instruction. The instructor adapts the session to your level, so beginners feel supported and more experienced participants can work on improving their technique.
This approach ensures that everyone, regardless of background, gets value from the activity. By the end of the hour, you will have practised stance, draw, and release while building confidence in your aim.
The tea you will sample is Dornoch Tea, grown and produced on Sydera Croft. It’s a unique Highland product that reflects the soil, climate, and care that goes into cultivation, giving you a taste that is both local and distinctive.
Enjoying it on the croft connects the drink to its origins, offering a more personal experience than you’d find with imported teas. It’s about both the flavour and the story behind the tea.
Yes, all necessary equipment is provided as part of the package, including bows, arrows, and any required safety gear. Everything is maintained to a high standard to ensure both safety and ease of use.
You don’t need to bring anything special for archery beyond your usual outdoor clothing. Sturdy footwear is recommended, and layers are useful for changing Highland weather.
Yes, even if you are not a regular tea drinker, the tasting is more about experiencing a local product in its place of origin. It’s as much a cultural experience as it is a culinary one, giving you a new perspective on Highland produce.
Some guests find the tasting changes their view of tea altogether. If preferred, it’s possible to simply enjoy the setting and learn about the production process without drinking.
For the archery, comfortable outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes are recommended. The activity takes place outside, so it’s sensible to dress for the conditions, whether that means a waterproof jacket or layers for cooler weather.
For the tea tasting, casual attire is fine, as it is a relaxed and informal part of the experience. Being comfortable will help you enjoy both the active and restful aspects of the package.
