Gather your friends or join a group for one of the most entertaining ways to explore Cornwall’s coastline – the Super SUP. These giant inflatable paddleboards carry up to eight people at once, making them the perfect mix of teamwork, fun, and adventure. Whether you’re paddling through caves, learning new skills, or laughing your way through team games, this activity promises something for everyone.
Your adventure begins at the centre, where you’ll get kitted out with wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets, and paddles before a short walk down to one of Newquay’s sheltered coves. After a full safety briefing and warm-up, the instructors will guide you through launching the Super SUP, learning how to balance, and getting comfortable with the basics of paddling as a team. Starting on your knees, you’ll quickly build confidence before standing up and working together to control the board.
Once on the water, the focus shifts to exploring Newquay’s incredible coastline. You’ll paddle through caves and around rocky headlands, with guides sharing local stories about smugglers and pirates as well as pointing out the marine life along the way. The session also includes time for team challenges such as SUP races, “King of the SUP,” and balance games that are guaranteed to leave the group laughing. There’s also the chance to jump in, swim, and splash about in the clear Cornish waters before paddling back to shore.
These tours take place around Newquay Bay, which is known for its mix of sheltered coves, dramatic cliffs, and hidden caves. The area is steeped in history, with tales of smuggling and seafaring shaping the character of the town. On the water, you’ll experience both the beauty of the coastline and the variety of marine life that thrives in the area.
Newquay itself is one of the UK’s most popular coastal destinations, offering sandy beaches, scenic headlands, and a lively surf culture. It’s the perfect backdrop for a day on the water, with everything from calm bays to rock formations providing variety for each Super SUP session. The guides carefully select the best spot depending on tides and weather, so you always get the best possible conditions for the activity.
No prior paddleboarding experience is required, making this a great option for complete beginners. Instructors will provide clear step-by-step guidance, so you can relax knowing that everything is explained and demonstrated before you try it yourself.
Participants should feel comfortable in the water and be able to swim, as there will be opportunities to jump in and splash about. The activity is designed to be inclusive and fun, so everyone can take part regardless of age or ability.
The centre has years of experience delivering water-based activities in Newquay and is known for its friendly instructors, excellent facilities, and high safety standards. Small group sizes mean you’ll always get the guidance and support you need, whether it’s your first time on a board or you’re already confident in the sea.
After your session, you’ll have access to heated changing rooms, hot showers, and secure storage, so you can enjoy your day without worry. Added extras such as free action photography, discounts for local cafés and shops, and a wide range of other water sports make this much more than just a one-off activity – it’s the perfect way to experience Cornwall’s coast to the fullest.
Super SUP (Super Stand Up Paddleboarding) in Newquay is riding the wave of popularity as one of the UK's freshest and rapidly expanding water sports, and it's proudly part of our thrilling activity lineup at our centre!
We've introduced a fleet of grand, inflatable paddleboards that can accommodate groups of up to 8, creating a unique way to explore Newquay's storied coastline. Setting off from the Gazzle on Fistral Headland, you'll navigate your craft into hidden smugglers' caves, traverse natural rapids, and circle around whirlpools, all while mastering the balance and steering of the vessel.
This engaging activity is a hit with participants of all ages and fitness levels, serving not only as an exciting adventure but also as an excellent diving platform and observation deck for peering at the aquatic life beneath the waves.
After getting kitted up at our centre, you and your group will launch the craft from the safety of Towan Beach and navigate it along our craggy coastline, into deep smugglers caves and through the natural whirlpools. The area is steeped in history and heritage.
Having learnt core paddle strokes and skills, you’ll moor up for a variety of hilarious games including SUMO SUP, King of the SUP or Mega SUP races, before navigating ocean swells.
The Gazzle’s caves and craggy coastline are home to an abundance of wildlife, from our native seals that call the coves home to jellyfish under the water’s surface. During your SUP experience, you’ll learn how to identify the flora and fauna of Newquay’s coastal ecosystems and witness them up close from the SUP itself.
All our Instructors are fully qualified Beach and Surf Safety Lifeguards, ISA awarded surf instructors and experienced coasteer leaders. They’ve undertaken extensive First Aid training and we endeavour as an Activity Centre to regularly in-house train our staff so they have experience in all weather and water conditions. Every instructor must have years of personal experience in the water and we also work in close partnership with the RNLI to ensure your safety in and out of the water.
SUP paddling requires a basic level of fitness and it certainly gets the heart pumping, but you don’t have to be an athlete! The beauty is that you can rest if you need a break.
We ask that everybody who takes part in our SUP experiences can swim a minimum of 50 metres. However, you’ll be provided with a buoyancy aid at the start of your session, meaning you always have a floatation aid throughout your SUP experience.
Yes! During the winter you’ll be provided with some extra kit to help keep you warm on colder days - a wetsuit hood, neoprene gloves & neoprene boots!
We both loved it , the instructor was a gentleman . Clear , concise instructions and very helpful . Can’t remember his name sorry , very tall with long hair
Jamie was a good instructor but a bit disappointed with the time snorkeling and not seeing anything. The sighting of the seals and info about the coast was great
