Your session begins with a brief on-land demonstration covering the basics of paddleboarding, such as kneeling and standing on the board. Then it’s time to get on the water! This SUP Taster session is designed for participants aged 14 and over. For younger children, please check our dedicated kids' sessions that are tailored to their needs.
We run sessions in most weather conditions, including light rain. However, if it’s extremely windy or there’s a lightning storm, we may cancel the session for safety reasons. If your session is cancelled due to weather, we’ll help you reschedule at no extra cost.
Yes, you can still participate if you're not a strong swimmer, but please inform us in advance. Buoyancy aids are provided, and the water in Hove Lagoon is shallow, making it a safe environment for all abilities.
Hove Lagoon offers excellent facilities, including changing rooms, hot showers, lockers, and a café. You’ll have access to these before and after your session, ensuring a comfortable experience.

Yes, the water in Hove Lagoon is sea water that’s regularly topped up and tested to ensure it meets bathing water standards. The water is shallow and safe, making it ideal for beginners. Any natural algae growth is harmless and managed by the council.
We provide wetsuits for all participants, so you'll stay warm even on cooler days. It’s a good idea to bring a warm layer for after the session, as the breeze can feel cold once you’re out of the water.
Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your scheduled session to check in, get changed, and receive the on-land briefing before heading onto the water.
