If you’re looking for a chilled way to explore the water or get a full-body workout with a view, hiring a SUP is the way to go. It’s suitable for all ages and skill levels, and you can add a wetsuit hire to stay warm in the cooler waters of Croyde.
SUP Hire
SUPs can be hired for as little as 3 hours or for as long as a full week, offering great flexibility depending on your plans. These boards are stable and easy to handle, ideal for beginners and more experienced paddlers alike. Each hire includes a paddle and leash for your safety.
Whether you want a quick paddle or a relaxed day exploring Croyde Bay, these boards are ready to go. The team will give you advice on the best places to paddle and ensure you’re confident before you set off.
Wetsuit Hire
Wetsuits come in a full size range and can be rented alongside your SUP or separately. They’re great for keeping you warm and comfortable, especially when the water temperature drops. Wetsuits can be hired from 3 hours up to 1 week.
All suits are thoroughly cleaned between hires and designed to give you good freedom of movement. The staff will help you find the best fit for your session to keep you cosy and agile on the board.
Down End Car Park is the collection point, perched above the southern side of Croyde Bay. It provides quick access to calm water ideal for paddleboarding, without having to carry equipment far.
The Beach Cafe sits nearby, perfect for a bite before or after your session. Parking is available, and the area offers great views and a welcoming atmosphere for water sports.
You should be comfortable in the water and able to swim well, as falling off the board is part of the fun and safety is important. SUP hire is open to all ages but under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. No previous experience is needed, but a wetsuit is advised.
The hire team brings local knowledge and enthusiasm to every rental, helping you get set up quickly and with confidence. Their gear is well maintained and they’re happy to offer tips on paddling techniques and the best local spots.
The friendly approach and hassle-free process mean you can focus on enjoying the water, whether it’s your first paddle or you’re returning for more.
No experience is necessary to hire a stand-up paddleboard. SUPs are stable and easy to use, especially in calm waters like Croyde Bay. The team will provide a safety briefing and basic paddling tips before you set off.
That said, being reasonably confident in the water and able to swim is important. Falling off is part of the fun, but knowing you can get back on the board safely is key to enjoying the activity.
Yes, wetsuits can be hired separately from the paddleboards. If you’re planning to swim, snorkel, or simply want to stay warm while near the water, renting a wetsuit on its own is an option.
Wetsuits don’t offer flotation, so you should be comfortable in the water without assistance when renting one alone.
Hire durations range from 3 hours up to 1 week, allowing you to plan short or longer paddling sessions. This flexibility is perfect if you want to try SUP for the first time or spend several days exploring the bay.
If you’d like to extend your hire beyond your initial booking, contact the team to check availability.
Always wear the leash attached to your SUP to avoid losing the board if you fall in. It’s best to paddle in calm conditions and within areas recommended by the hire team. Avoid strong winds or choppy waters if you’re a beginner.
Listen carefully to the safety briefing and advice from the staff. They’ll help you understand the local area and how to stay safe while having fun.
The hire service is open to all ages, but under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. This ensures safety, especially since paddleboarding involves being in open water where supervision is important.
Younger children may find SUP more challenging, so parents should assess their child’s swimming ability and confidence before hiring.
