An evening snowmobile sleigh carries you through the forest to our Aurora Cabin for a northern lights watch, with glögi and Finnish snacks by the fire along the way.
Once you've changed into winter gear at our safari house near Pisavaara Nature Reserve, you'll climb into the sleigh and set off through darkening forest trails toward the Aurora Cabin. We'll have collected you from your accommodation in Rovaniemi earlier in the evening and driven you out to the base before gearing up.
Glögi by the fire at the cabin gives you a chance to warm up before stepping outside when the sky is clear to look for the northern lights. Your guide stays with the group throughout and shares what to watch for overhead. When you're ready, you'll ride back through the snow, return your gear and we'll transfer you back to Rovaniemi.
The Aurora Cabin stands in dark forest country away from Rovaniemi's city lights, which gives you a better view of the night sky than staying in town. Our base beside Pisavaara Nature Reserve is peaceful while still being a straightforward drive from the city.
Dark-sky forest east of the city is deliberately where we run this evening activity. The sleigh ride through the trees at night is part of the atmosphere before you reach the cabin, and hotel pickup and drop-off in Rovaniemi is included.
Passengers of any experience level can join, as no driving licence is needed. Children from age three can come with an adult, and the cabin gives younger guests a warm indoor pause during the evening.
Under the overalls, pack warmth with thermal base layers for the coldest part of the night outdoors. Sitting in the open sleigh can feel chilly on the ride in, so a scarf and warm socks underneath make a noticeable difference.
Seated travel suits families and anyone who prefers not to drive a snowmobile on an evening outing, and we keep groups small so the cabin stop and aurora watch never feel crowded.
Certified guides lead these evening routes through the winter season and explain what to look for in the sky. Every guide holds an official travel industry safety passport, and we give you proper time at the cabin rather than hurrying you back to the city.
Your evening begins with pickup from your accommodation in Rovaniemi. Enjoy the scenic drive through Lapland's winter landscape to our safari house near the Pisavaara Nature Reserve as darkness settles over the Arctic forest.
At the safari house you'll change into warm winter overalls, boots and gloves. Your guide explains the snowmobile sleigh ride and outlines the route through the forest to the Aurora Cabin before you head out into the snow.
Climb aboard the sleigh and set off through snowy forest trails pulled by your guide's snowmobile. Frosted trees and glittering snow create a fairytale mood as you travel deeper into the wilderness toward the Aurora Cabin beneath the darkening sky.
Arrive at the Aurora Cabin and warm up by the fire with hot glögi and Finnish snacks. Reindeer often graze nearby as you step outside to watch for the northern lights in the dark skies above the peaceful wilderness.
Return through the forest by sleigh to the safari house, return your winter gear and transfer back to your accommodation in Rovaniemi after your Arctic evening adventure.
