Sit back in a comfortable sleigh pulled by your guide's snowmobile through Lapland forest to a wilderness cabin, with a reindeer farm visit on the way back. This activity suits families who want a gentle forest outing without driving themselves.
From your hotel in Rovaniemi we'll drive you to our safari house beside Pisavaara Nature Reserve. You'll change into warm winter overalls, boots and gloves, and your guide explains how the snowmobile-towed sleigh works before you climb aboard. The route winds through snowy forest where frosted trees and deep winter silence set the scene.
A stop at a cosy log cabin comes midway through the ride, where you'll warm up with glögi and Finnish snacks by the fire. The journey continues by sleigh to our reindeer farm to meet the animals up close, and reindeer and other wildlife are sometimes spotted along the trails. After returning your gear at the safari house, we'll drive you back to your accommodation in Rovaniemi.
The sleigh route starts from our family home beside Pisavaara Nature Reserve, a quiet village north of Rovaniemi. Forest trails and open clearings offer classic Lapland winter scenery throughout the ride.
Included pickup from Rovaniemi means you can enjoy the transfer without navigating snowy roads yourself. The base is close enough to the city for a straightforward day trip, yet the forest routes feel properly remote once you leave the main roads behind.
Because you ride as a passenger in the sleigh, no driving licence or previous experience is needed. Children from age three can join with an adult, and the gentle seated pace suits beginners and families.
Layer thermal clothing under the provided overalls to stay warmest during the outdoor sections. The sleigh is open to the air, so a warm hat and scarf are worth wearing underneath the hood of your overalls on the coldest days.
The seated sleigh format lets everyone enjoy the forest without needing to drive a snowmobile, and we run personal outings from private land beside the nature reserve. Small groups keep the atmosphere calm throughout the cabin stop and farm visit.
Our team holds official travel industry safety passports, and we welcome families with children from age three upwards. We combine the forest ride, cabin stop and reindeer farm into one relaxed outing rather than rushing you through each stage.
Your experience begins with pickup from your accommodation in Rovaniemi. Enjoy a scenic drive through Lapland's winter landscape to our safari house near the Pisavaara Nature Reserve, where your guide welcomes you and prepares you for the adventure ahead.
At the safari house you'll change into warm winter overalls, boots and gloves designed for Arctic conditions. Your guide explains how the snowmobile-towed sleigh works and what to expect along the forest route before you head out into the snow.
Climb aboard the sleigh and set off through snowy forest trails pulled by your guide's snowmobile. Frosted trees, sparkling snow and deep winter silence create a fairytale atmosphere, and you may spot reindeer or other wildlife moving quietly through the woods.
Arrive at a cosy wilderness log cabin hidden deep in the forest. Warm up by the fire with steaming hot glögi and traditional Finnish snacks while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and untouched nature around you.
Return through the forest by sleigh and stop at our reindeer farm to meet the animals up close. After returning your winter gear at the safari house, we drive you back to your accommodation in Rovaniemi.
