Steer your own quiet electric sleigh through snowy Lapland forest to a wilderness cabin, then visit our reindeer farm before we drive you back to Rovaniemi.
Your day begins with pickup from your accommodation in Rovaniemi and a drive to our safari house near Pisavaara Nature Reserve. After changing into insulated overalls, boots and gloves, your guide briefs you on the electric sleigh and the forest route ahead. You'll set off in a small convoy along snowy trails, steering at a gentle pace while your guide leads the way.
Halfway through the ride you'll stop at a log cabin in the wilderness to warm up by the fire with hot glögi and Finnish snacks. On the return journey you'll visit our reindeer farm to meet the animals up close and learn how they're cared for through the winter. You'll hand back your winter gear at the safari house before we transfer you back to Rovaniemi.
Forest trails around Pisavaara Nature Reserve, in a quiet village north of Rovaniemi, are where you'll spend most of the outing. Snow-covered woodland here sits far from the busier tourist routes around the city centre.
Transfers from the city are included, so you don't need to worry about driving on snowy roads to reach us. We collect you from your accommodation and return you there at the end of the outing, which makes it easy to fit the trip around the rest of your time in Lapland.
You don't need a driving licence or any previous experience. The electric sleigh is easy to handle and your guide sets a comfortable pace for the group. Children from age three can take part when accompanied by an adult.
At the safari house we provide full winter gear, though thermal base layers underneath will keep you warmest on colder days. Wear warm socks and a hat under the overalls, and bring gloves if you prefer your own for steering the sleigh.
Ours is a small family setup, not a mass-tourism site. Electric sleighs glide quietly through the forest, reindeer live on private land beside the reserve, and groups stay capped at eight so the day never feels rushed.
Safety credentials matter to us: every guide holds an official travel industry safety passport, and we welcome families with children from age three upwards. The reindeer farm visit is a genuine part of how we work here in winter, not a quick photo stop, and your guide has time to answer questions along the route.
