One of Austria's best-known ski resorts provides the setting for this seven-day winter holiday, giving confident skiers and snowboarders the opportunity to explore world-class terrain while enjoying a relaxed and welcoming group atmosphere. Staying in the centre of St Anton means you'll be within easy reach of the lifts, restaurants and legendary après-ski venues throughout the week.
With over 300 kilometres of groomed pistes forming part of the Ski Arlberg area, you'll have no shortage of terrain to discover during your stay. Wide cruising runs, challenging descents and extensive off-piste opportunities make the region particularly appealing for those who already have a solid level of skiing or snowboarding experience. Each day can be approached however you like, whether that means covering as much of the mountain as possible or taking a more relaxed pace with plenty of café stops along the way.
Rather than following a rigid schedule, the week is intentionally flexible. Some guests choose to ski together from first lift until the afternoon, while others naturally split into smaller groups before meeting again for lunch or later in the day. Your host will happily recommend areas worth exploring based on the latest conditions, ensuring everyone gets the most from their time on the mountain without feeling tied to a fixed plan.
Once the lifts close, St Anton's famous après-ski comes to life. Well-known venues such as the MooserWirt and Krazy Kanguruh are within easy reach, while the town also offers a wide choice of restaurants, traditional Austrian bars and cafés for more relaxed evenings.
Positioned within the Tyrolean Alps, St Anton am Arlberg has earned an international reputation as one of Europe's leading ski destinations. The resort forms part of the expansive Ski Arlberg network, providing access to an impressive variety of pistes and some of Austria's best-known freeride terrain for experienced riders.
Away from the slopes, the compact town is easy to explore on foot and offers everything needed for a comfortable winter holiday. Equipment shops, supermarkets, cafés and traditional Alpine restaurants sit alongside lively bars, creating an enjoyable atmosphere both during the day and well into the evening.
Hotel Goldenes Kreuz sits in the centre of St Anton, approximately five minutes' walk from the Nassereinbahn lift. Its convenient location means you can quickly reach the mountain each morning while remaining close to the town's restaurants, shops and evening entertainment.
Rooms are arranged for two guests, with most featuring traditional Austrian twin beds consisting of one shared bed frame fitted with two separate mattresses and individual duvets. Guests are welcome to book their own room, travel with a friend or share with another guest of the same sex. A sauna is also available within the hotel, offering a welcome place to relax after skiing or snowboarding.
A confident intermediate level of skiing or snowboarding is recommended before joining this holiday. You'll enjoy the trip far more if you're already comfortable skiing or riding a variety of pistes independently and spending full days on the mountain.
Because of the terrain available around St Anton and the focus of the week, complete beginners are not recommended for this holiday. Anyone learning for the first time would be better suited to a trip specifically designed around beginner tuition.
Spending a week in a world-famous ski resort becomes even more enjoyable when you're surrounded by people who share the same enthusiasm for the mountains. The small group size makes it easy to get to know everyone, whether you're travelling alone, with a partner or alongside friends, while still allowing complete freedom to ski at your own pace.
Hosts remain available throughout the holiday to offer local recommendations, bring the group together and help create a relaxed atmosphere on and off the slopes. You're welcome to spend the entire day with everyone else or simply meet up later for lunch or an evening in town — the choice is entirely yours.
This trip is best suited to intermediate and advanced skiers or snowboarders who already feel comfortable exploring large ski areas independently. The extensive terrain around St Anton allows experienced riders to enjoy long days on the mountain while discovering different parts of Ski Arlberg.
Although everyone is free to ski at their own pace, you'll get the most from the holiday if you're already confident on a variety of pistes and happy covering plenty of ground throughout the week.
St Anton does have beginner slopes and ski schools, but this particular holiday isn't aimed at people learning for the first time.
The group is expected to have previous skiing or snowboarding experience, making it easier for everyone to enjoy the mountain together without needing beginner instruction during the week.
No. The holiday is intentionally relaxed, so there is no expectation that everyone skis together from morning until evening.
Many guests naturally split into smaller groups depending on ability, preferred terrain or plans for the day before meeting again later for lunch, après-ski or dinner.
Ski Arlberg offers more than 300 kilometres of groomed pistes, making it one of Austria's largest interconnected ski regions.
Alongside the prepared runs, the area is also internationally recognised for its extensive off-piste terrain, attracting experienced skiers and snowboarders from around the world each winter.
Breakfast is served every morning before heading out to the slopes, giving you a simple start to each day.
Evening meals are not included, allowing guests to choose from the many restaurants available throughout St Anton during the week.
Many hotels in Austria use a traditional twin arrangement where one double bed frame contains two individual mattresses and separate duvets.
If you're sharing a room, you'll sleep beside another guest but each person has their own bedding. Guests who prefer more privacy can enquire about booking their own room, subject to availability.
Absolutely. Solo travellers are very common on these holidays and quickly become part of the group.
If you don't already have someone to share with, you'll normally be paired with another guest of the same sex unless you've arranged a private room.
Innsbruck Airport is the nearest option, with onward travel by bus and train usually taking less than two hours.
Zurich Airport is another popular choice, offering both rail services via Bregenz and the Arlberg Express coach depending on your preferred route and arrival time.
Hotel Goldenes Kreuz provides comfortable accommodation in the centre of town along with a sauna that's available for guests to enjoy after a day on the mountain.
Being only a short walk from the Nassereinbahn lift also means you can maximise your time skiing while keeping restaurants, shops and après-ski venues within easy reach throughout your stay.
