Take your skiing or snowboarding beyond the marked pistes with a week designed to introduce confident riders to the world of off-piste terrain. Based in Morzine within the vast Portes du Soleil ski area, this holiday combines professional mountain guiding with a relaxed chalet atmosphere, allowing you to develop new skills while exploring some of the area's best natural snow.
Five days of guiding are included in the holiday price, with three half days and two full days spent learning how to ride safely away from prepared pistes. The remaining time allows you to enjoy the resort at your own pace, whether that's skiing with new friends, exploring Morzine or relaxing at the chalet after a day in the mountains.
Daniel created these holidays to bring together people who enjoy skiing, snowboarding and meeting others with similar interests. Many guests travel on their own, while others arrive with partners or friends, creating a welcoming group where everyone quickly feels included.
With live-in hosts looking after the group throughout the week, you'll always have someone on hand to recommend the best runs, organise social evenings and help you make the most of your time in Morzine. Combined with experienced mountain guides, this holiday offers a supportive introduction to off-piste skiing and snowboarding without losing the relaxed feel of a traditional chalet break.
Your first guided session introduces the fundamentals of travelling beyond marked pistes. The guide will assess the group's ability while covering mountain awareness, route selection and techniques for skiing or snowboarding in natural snow.
The afternoon is yours to continue exploring the resort or relax back at the chalet.
Building on the previous session, you'll continue developing your confidence away from groomed runs while visiting suitable off-piste terrain based on the current snow conditions.
After the guided session, enjoy free time to ski the extensive Portes du Soleil network or spend time with the rest of the group around Morzine.
Spend a full day exploring more of the Portes du Soleil with your qualified mountain guide. You'll put your new skills into practice while experiencing a greater variety of natural terrain and snow conditions.
The exact routes will always depend on weather, avalanche forecasts and the group's ability, ensuring the safest and most enjoyable experience possible.
Today offers complete flexibility. You may choose to explore your favourite pistes, revisit areas you've already discovered or simply enjoy Morzine's cafés and mountain restaurants with other members of the group.
Your host remains available throughout the day with recommendations on where to ski depending on the conditions.
The final guided day gives you the opportunity to consolidate everything you've learned during the week. By now you'll feel much more comfortable reading the terrain, riding natural snow and understanding how guided off-piste days operate.
It's a rewarding way to finish the holiday before returning to the chalet for one final evening with the group.
Enjoy breakfast before checking out and beginning your journey home.
Mountain conditions always take priority during guided activities, so the order of the guided sessions may change depending on weather, snow conditions and avalanche forecasts.
You'll stay in a welcoming chalet situated in the centre of Morzine, only a few minutes' walk from both of the town's main lifts. Its convenient location means you can quickly reach the slopes each morning while remaining close to the restaurants, shops and nightlife in the evenings.
The chalet features comfortable en-suite bedrooms, spacious communal living areas and a large dining room where guests come together for breakfast and evening meals. With dedicated live-in hosts throughout the week, you'll enjoy a relaxed atmosphere that encourages everyone to get to know one another after each day on the mountain.
No. This holiday has been designed as an introduction to off-piste skiing and snowboarding, so previous off-piste experience isn't required.
You should, however, already be a confident skier or snowboarder on marked pistes. The guides will build your confidence gradually while introducing you to natural terrain in suitable locations.
You should be a confident intermediate or advanced rider who is comfortable skiing or snowboarding red runs throughout the day.
The guided sessions are not designed to teach basic piste technique, so you'll enjoy the week much more if you're already confident controlling your speed and linking turns on varied terrain.
The holiday includes three half days and two full days with qualified mountain guides.
This balance provides plenty of professional instruction while still leaving time to enjoy Morzine and the Portes du Soleil independently.
Not necessarily. The guides will choose terrain according to weather, avalanche forecasts and the group's ability.
At times you may use groomed pistes to reach different areas or move safely between sections of off-piste terrain.
Yes. Safety forms an important part of the guided sessions.
Your guide will explain safe decision making, mountain awareness and appropriate travel techniques throughout the week while selecting terrain suitable for current conditions.
Absolutely. Solo travellers make up a large proportion of guests each season.
The small group size, shared chalet accommodation and hosted social evenings make it easy to get to know everyone throughout the week.
Breakfast is served every morning before heading to the slopes.
Dinner is included on five evenings, together with drinks served alongside the meal. Two evenings are left free so you can explore Morzine's restaurants if you wish.
