Consistent snowfall, varied landscapes and a lack of crowds combine to create an excellent destination for skiers and snowboarders seeking fresh tracks away from the more established resorts of Europe.
Over eight days, you'll tour a mix of forested descents, alpine bowls and remote backcountry routes while staying in comfortable accommodation in and around Ridder. Avalanche awareness training, local knowledge and flexible route selection ensure each day is tailored to current conditions, providing the best possible skiing experience throughout the trip.
Your week begins with arrival in Ridder and a welcome briefing before avalanche safety training on Days 2 and 3. Snowmobiles and snowcats help access hidden powder zones, letting you focus on skiing rather than long approaches through deep snow.
Days 4 to 7 target the region's best touring routes, with daily plans adjusted for snow quality, weather and group ability. Forest skiing, open mountain faces and long descents through untouched powder fill each day, while evenings bring traditional meals, sauna sessions and time to recover before the final tour and departure on Day 8.

Following arrival at Ust-Kamenogorsk Airport, you'll transfer through the snowy landscapes of eastern Kazakhstan towards the mountain town of Ridder. Surrounded by the peaks of the Altai Mountains, the town serves as the base for the week ahead.
After settling into your accommodation, there is time to relax before meeting the group for a welcome dinner and trip briefing. The evening provides an opportunity to discuss conditions, review equipment and prepare for the coming days.
The adventure begins with avalanche safety training covering beacon use, probing techniques, shovel work and essential mountain decision-making skills. These sessions help build confidence and provide valuable knowledge for both the trip and future backcountry adventures.
Once training is complete, the first ski tours begin. Snowmobiles and snowcats assist with access to some of the area's hidden powder zones, allowing more time to focus on skiing and riding fresh lines through the backcountry.
Over the following days, attention turns towards the region's most rewarding ski touring routes. Each day is planned around current snow conditions, weather forecasts and group ability, ensuring the best possible experience.
Expect a mixture of forest skiing, open mountain faces and long descents through untouched snow. Away from the slopes, evenings are spent enjoying traditional meals, relaxing in local saunas and sharing stories from the day's adventures.
The final morning includes one last ski tour before packing up and leaving the mountains behind.
Following the tour, you'll transfer back to Ust-Kamenogorsk Airport for your onward journey, taking home memories of deep powder, welcoming hospitality and some of Kazakhstan's finest backcountry terrain.
