Combining river navigation with forest trails, this experience moves between fast-flowing water and quieter inland terrain in the Sarapiquí region. The structure of the day allows time for both active rafting and a more relaxed horseback ride within the same natural setting.
Leaving San Jose, the journey heads through mountainous rainforest roads and into the Sarapiquí region, passing through sections of protected national park known for dense vegetation and river systems. On arrival at the operations base, a safety briefing and equipment fitting take place before heading onto the river. The rafting section includes class II–III rapids, with a mix of moving water, small waves and calmer stretches where you can take in the surrounding jungle scenery.
Midway through the rafting experience, there is often an opportunity to stop for a short swim and enjoy fresh fruit before continuing downstream. After completing the river section, the second activity begins with a guided horseback ride through tropical forest trails. This part of the day follows a slower pace, allowing you to explore jungle paths accompanied by experienced riders. A freshly prepared lunch is served before returning to San Jose in the afternoon.
