One-day practical course designed for anyone wanting confidence and control on a Personal Watercraft, whether completely new or experienced. You’ll spend most of the day on the water, gaining hands-on skills and knowledge to keep rides safer and more enjoyable. From launch to recovery, you’ll learn techniques that help you get the most from your PWC.
Course begins with launch and recovery techniques, followed by low-speed handling exercises to build confidence. Participants then practise essential safety drills, including man overboard recovery, towing scenarios, and navigation rules to maintain safe operation.
Over a working lunch, basic passage planning and digital navigation are introduced to give learners the tools to chart and follow a course confidently. After lunch, skills are applied practically on the water to reinforce learning in real conditions.
Afternoon sessions focus on planing speed, cornering, and manoeuvring at higher speeds while maintaining safety awareness. The day concludes with guidance on craft recovery, corrosion prevention, and maintenance to ensure PWCs remain in optimal condition.
Grebe Lake provides a controlled inland environment ideal for learning Personal Watercraft skills. Easy access from Oxford, Bicester, and surrounding counties removes the need for long coastal travel. The lake offers safe, open water for hands-on training in all essential PWC skills.
Facilities include secure storage, changing areas, and convenient parking. The welcoming base supports beginners and experienced riders alike, making it simple to learn safely and efficiently in a central location.
No prior PWC experience is required. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the same course and PWC.
Attendees should be comfortable in a wetsuit and buoyancy aid for the full day and able to swim confidently. Passport-sized photograph required for certification; participants should also bring a towel and lunch, though refreshments are provided.
High-quality Yamaha Waverunners, including top-range FX models, give learners a superior experience compared to entry-level craft elsewhere. Crewsaver wetsuits, splash tops, impact buoyancy jackets, booties, and gloves are included and cleaned after each session to maximise comfort and safety.
Central Midlands location allows learners to access practical training without travelling to the coast. Experienced instructors provide professional guidance and support, ensuring hands-on learning is effective, safe, and enjoyable throughout the day.
