## FAQs

### What prior experience is needed to join the course?

No prior experience is required to take part. Beginners will be guided through all core skills, from launch and recovery to basic handling and safety procedures, ensuring everyone gains confidence on the water. Even experienced riders can benefit from the course, as instructors provide personalised feedback to improve control, manoeuvring, and navigation techniques that might not be covered in informal riding sessions.

### What age restrictions apply?

Minimum age is 12 years old. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the same course and watercraft to ensure safety and supervision throughout the day. The adult must pay the full course fee and ride with the under-18 participant on the same PWC. This ensures younger participants have guidance and support while learning.

### What type of equipment is provided?

High-quality Yamaha Waverunners are available for all participants. Wetsuits, splash tops, impact buoyancy jackets, booties, and gloves are also included and cleaned after each session for hygiene and comfort.

### How is safety handled during the course?

Instructors provide full briefings on safety, including launch/recovery techniques, man overboard drills, towing procedures, and collision avoidance. Risk assessments are conducted regularly to maintain a safe learning environment. All practical exercises are conducted in controlled conditions at the lake, with instructors monitoring participants at all times. Buoyancy aids and wetsuits provide added protection for all learners.

### How long is the course and what is the daily schedule?

Course runs from 9am to 5.30pm, including a working lunch break. Morning sessions focus on launching, low-speed handling, and safety drills. Afternoon sessions build on skills with planing speed, cornering, and manoeuvring practice, finishing with craft maintenance guidance. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day.

### What do I need to bring with me?

Participants should bring a towel, lunch, and a passport-sized photograph for certification purposes. Wetsuits, buoyancy aids, gloves, and booties are provided, but learners may bring their own if preferred. Comfortable, non-restrictive clothing under the wetsuit is recommended. Waterproof footwear is not necessary as booties are provided.

### Can I use my own PWC?

As of June 2026, to provide the very best experience to all course participants, we no longer allow own ski tuition. Instead you can use one of our Modern Yamaha Waverunners, making your time on site as enoyable as it can be without the hassel of having to tow your craft to our venue!

### Can I bring my own wetsuit and/or buoyancy impact jacket

Yes, absolutely! If you have your own gear, you are welcome to bring this with you instead of wearing ours. As minimum wetsuites need to cover the groin area, and impact buoyancy jackets need to meet the minimum requirements for buoyancy (50N and CE, UKCA or USCG Type III).
