Gain the confidence to safely handle a jetski with this RYA-accredited course. Whether using your own craft or hiring one, this one-day session covers essential techniques for safe and responsible riding. It’s a great way to learn key handling and navigation skills while building confidence on the water.
The day begins with an onshore safety briefing covering basic theory, launch preparation, and an introduction to the craft’s controls. Instructors outline the day’s plan, explain sea area awareness, and go through essential safety checks before heading out onto the water.
Once afloat, you’ll start with low-speed manoeuvres including slow turns, controlled stops, and close-quarters handling. As your confidence grows, you’ll move on to higher-speed riding, learning how to balance speed with control and execute smooth turns. You’ll also cover practical exercises in navigation and passage planning, using real conditions to make decisions on safe routes and positioning.
Towards the end of the session, you’ll have the chance to demonstrate your skills through a short ass
No previous experience is required, but participants should be comfortable on the water and able to swim confidently in case of capsize. Minimum age for the RYA PWC Proficiency Course is 12 years, although younger riders may be accepted at the discretion of the instructor.
If you’re bringing your own jetski, it must be in safe working condition with valid insurance and registration. Impact vests and safety equipment are provided the centre. Wetsuits can be hired for £5 per day on the day.
These skills give you the confidence to ride safely, legally, and enjoyably in a variety of conditions.
