Get ready to tackle some of the best sea cliff climbing in Wales. Our sessions cater to all levels, from complete beginners to seasoned climbers, with expert guidance along Pembrokeshire’s iconic sandstone cliffs. Whether you’re trying climbing outdoors for the first time or pushing your skills to new heights, our guides will make sure your adventure is safe, exciting, and unforgettable.
When you arrive at St Davids, our team will welcome you, help with any paperwork, and fit you with your climbing gear. After a briefing on safety, we’ll travel together to the coastal cliffs, where the real adventure begins.
For beginners taking the Discovery session, you’ll start with essential safety techniques, rope work, and harness use. Our guides provide personalised coaching, helping you feel comfortable on the rock while you practise climbing on beginner-friendly routes. As you gain confidence, you’ll enjoy scenic views over Pembrokeshire’s coastline and learn problem-solving skills specific to outdoor climbing.
If you choose the Explorer session, you’ll already have some climbing experience and will be ready for more challenging routes. We begin with a refresher on safety and technique, then move on to steeper and more technical climbs. Our guides support you as you develop advanced skills, tackle vertical challenges, and navigate more complex routes. Throughout, you’ll experience the excitement of climbing higher while surrounded by dramatic sea cliffs and panoramic views.
Our climbing sessions are set along the northern coast of Pembrokeshire, within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, an area celebrated for its dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and abundant wildlife. The coastline offers a mix of sheltered coves and exposed cliffs, providing varied climbing experiences for all levels.
The sandstone cliffs are perfect for both beginners and more advanced climbers, with routes that challenge your skills while offering incredible coastal views. Well-maintained coastal paths make access easy and safe, and the surrounding area is rich with opportunities to spot seabirds, seals, and other wildlife, making the journey to each climb as memorable as the climbs themselves.
Discovery sessions require no prior climbing experience and are suitable for participants aged 8 and above. Explorer sessions are aimed at those with some climbing experience and are suitable for participants aged 13 and above.
All participants should be in good physical health and wear appropriate footwear for walking along the coastal paths. Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing is recommended.
The centre is committed to providing exceptional outdoor experiences that combine adventure, learning, and connection with nature. Each session is led by expert guides who prioritise safety while creating a fun, supportive environment that helps climbers of all abilities gain confidence and improve their skills.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. By choosing our climbing sessions, you’ll enjoy one of the UK’s most beautiful coastal settings while contributing to the preservation of the national park. Our focus on environmentally responsible practices ensures your adventure is both thrilling and eco-conscious.
For the Discovery session, no prior climbing experience is required. It’s suitable for anyone aged 8 and above who is physically able and comfortable walking along the coastal path to the climbing site. Our guides will take you through all safety procedures and provide personalised instruction on basic climbing techniques.
Explorer sessions are aimed at participants with some climbing experience, typically on an indoor wall or previous outdoor climbs. You should be comfortable wearing a harness, belaying, and navigating vertical routes. Our guides will provide a refresher on safety and technique before progressing to more advanced climbs.
Participants should wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing that allows freedom of movement. Walking shoes are recommended for the coastal approach, and climbing shoes will be provided for the session. A light waterproof jacket can be useful in case of changeable coastal weather.
It’s also advisable to bring water, sunscreen, and a small snack if you think you’ll need energy during the climb. Personal items such as phones or cameras can be carried in secure pockets or bags, but they should be safe from dropping while climbing.
Climbing requires a reasonable level of general fitness, particularly in the legs and core, to handle both the climbing itself and the approach along the coastal path. Discovery sessions focus on building confidence gradually, so beginners can pace themselves while learning the basics.
Explorer sessions involve more challenging routes, which demand stamina and strength to tackle vertical climbs. If you have concerns about your fitness level, discuss them with our team beforehand so we can adapt the session to suit your needs.
Yes, Discovery sessions are suitable for children aged 8 and above, while Explorer sessions are suitable for those aged 13 and above. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult to ensure safety and supervision during the session.
Our guides are experienced in working with young climbers, tailoring instruction to suit their abilities while maintaining a safe and enjoyable experience. The sessions balance learning with fun to keep children engaged throughout.
Each climbing session lasts approximately 3.5 hours. This includes arrival, briefing, travel to the climbing site, gear fitting, instruction, and climbing time. The schedule allows ample time to practice, learn techniques, and enjoy the coastal scenery without feeling rushed.
We aim to provide a relaxed yet focused experience, giving participants the opportunity to improve skills at their own pace. The timing also allows for a mix of guided instruction and independent practice under the supervision of our experts.
Safety is our top priority. All participants are given a full safety briefing, fitted with appropriate harnesses and helmets, and guided by qualified instructors throughout the session. Our team ensures equipment is properly checked and that climbing techniques are taught in a controlled environment.
We adapt routes and instruction based on the ability of the group, so everyone can climb safely while still enjoying the challenge. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced climber, you’ll always be supported by our expert guides.
