Get ready for an ocean adventure packed with friendly competition on our giant super SUP boards. Over two hours, you'll enjoy team-based races, games, and challenges across Newquay Bay, perfect for families, friends, or colleagues. No prior experience is required, just a sense of fun and a willingness to get a little wet.
On arrival, our friendly staff will welcome you and split the group into two teams. Each participant will be kitted out with a warm Rip Curl wetsuit, buoyancy aid, helmet, and a professional paddle before being introduced to our giant-sized super SUP boards. You’ll then get a safety briefing and step-by-step tuition on launching, paddle strokes (kneeling and standing), steering, and board control to ensure everyone is confident before hitting the water.
Once prepared, your group will paddle around Towan headland, taking in the views of the craggy coastline and local wildlife. After this warm-up, you’ll engage in playful SUP games like Sumo SUP, King of the SUP, SUP Spinning, and Drunken Sailor, designed to develop coordination, teamwork, and board-handling skills while having plenty of laughs.
The session finishes with a competitive race around our course markers, approximately 200m out to sea. Teams can choose to race the clock or head-to-head, and under-hand tactics and clever paddling manoeuvres are encouraged. Victory comes with bragging rights and a bottle of bubbly, but the focus is on fun, laughter, and a full-body workout that everyone can enjoy.
Set in the heart of Newquay, our centre provides direct access to the calm, turquoise waters of Newquay Bay. Surrounded by the iconic Towan headland, the area is known for its coastal scenery, craggy cliffs, and diverse marine life, offering a safe yet scenic playground for all levels of paddlers.
The local coastline is dotted with sandy beaches and sheltered coves, making it ideal for team activities and games. Facilities at the centre include hot outdoor showers, heated changing rooms, and secure lockers, so you can enjoy the day without worrying about your belongings.
Participants should be comfortable in the water and able to swim unaided. There are no prior SUP or racing skills required, as full instruction is provided.
All ages 8+ are welcome, and the activity is suitable for families, friends, and corporate groups. Enthusiasm and a sense of fun are the only essential requirements.

We’ve introduced a fleet of grand, inflatable paddleboards that can accommodate groups of up to 8, creating a unique way to explore Newquay’s storied coastline. Setting off from the Gazzle on Fistral Headland, you’ll navigate your craft into hidden smugglers’ caves, traverse natural rapids, and circle around whirlpools, all while mastering the balance and steering of the vessel.
This engaging activity is a hit with participants of all ages and fitness levels, serving not only as an exciting adventure but also as an excellent diving platform and observation deck for peering at the aquatic life beneath the waves.
The Gazzle’s caves and craggy coastline are home to an abundance of wildlife, from our native seals that call the coves home to jellyfish under the water’s surface. During your SUP experience, you’ll learn how to identify the flora and fauna of Newquay’s coastal ecosystems and witness them up close from the SUP itself.
All our Instructors are fully qualified Beach and Surf Safety Lifeguards, ISA awarded surf instructors and experienced coasteer leaders. They’ve undertaken extensive First Aid training and we endeavour as an Activity Centre to regularly in-house train our staff so they have experience in all weather and water conditions. Every instructor must have years of personal experience in the water and we also work in close partnership with the RNLI to ensure your safety in and out of the water.
SUP paddling requires a basic level of fitness and it certainly gets the heart pumping, but you don’t have to be an athlete! The beauty is that you can rest if you need a break.
We ask that everybody who takes part in our SUP experiences can swim a minimum of 50 metres. However, you’ll be provided with a buoyancy aid at the start of your session, meaning you always have a floatation aid throughout your SUP experience.
Yes! During the winter you’ll be provided with some extra kit to help keep you warm on colder days – a wetsuit hood, neoprene gloves & neoprene boots!
