Take the wheel of a gravity powered mountain kart and carve your way down Penrhyn Quarry's 3km track. With two runs included, this high energy experience combines technical corners, quarry scenery and the chance to build confidence on the course.
Arrive in good time for check in, then make your way to the track base for a safety briefing. The team fits your helmet, goggles and protective pads, explains the kart controls and makes sure you are ready for the course.
A truck takes the group up through the quarry, giving you a first look at the route below. At the top, you settle into your kart and set off one at a time, choosing a controlled pace as you negotiate the bends, tunnels, berms and chicanes.
After your first descent, the group travels back uphill for a second go. Once you cross the finish for the final time, return your equipment and walk back to the main area at your own pace.
Penrhyn Quarry sits above Bethesda in the dramatic slate landscape of North Wales. The high open setting gives the route a real mountain feel, with wide views across Eryri on clear days.
The quarry's industrial scale is part of the experience, from the truck ascent to the winding track cut into the hillside. It is a memorable base for an active day in the area.
This activity is for guests aged 15 and over who meet the 1.2m minimum height and 130kg maximum weight. Participants should be comfortable with an active outdoor experience and following the driving instructions.

The purpose built course brings together speed, control and a changing mix of quarry obstacles, rather than a standard kart circuit. Two runs give you time to get familiar with the kart before tackling the route again.
Experienced staff provide the fitting, briefing and clear pacing needed for a confident ride. The route is designed to feel exhilarating while keeping every participant supported from start to finish.
