Learn or develop your stand-up paddleboarding skills in a private coaching session on the River Avon with an ASI-accredited school. Whether you're a complete beginner or aiming to refine your technique, this personalised coaching session offers undivided attention from an experienced instructor. Enjoy a fun and peaceful paddle while improving your skills and gaining confidence on the water.
Your session begins with a warm welcome at Arden Sailing Club, where we’ll provide you with all the necessary gear, including a paddle, board, and safety equipment. The session kicks off with a land-based briefing covering the key features of the paddleboard and essential paddling techniques. This includes how to kneel paddle (forwards, backwards, and turning), as well as the transition from kneeling to standing, and how to paddle effectively using the five phases of the stroke.
Once you’re ready, we’ll carry the boards to the water and practice kneel paddling techniques. After you feel comfortable, we’ll progress to standing and begin exploring the beautiful River Avon. Throughout the session, we’ll focus on refining your technique at your own pace. For those with prior experience, we’ll help you enhance your stroke efficiency, master different turns, and take your paddling technique to the next level. The session ends with a safe water exit and a debrief, ensuring you leave with a clear understanding of how to improve further.
This activity takes place at Arden Sailing Club, located on the peaceful River Avon. The club offers a peaceful environment, perfect for paddleboarding. As you paddle, you may be treated to views of the river’s wildlife, including kingfishers, herons, and even otters.
The location provides an excellent space for both beginners and experienced paddlers to enjoy a safe and enjoyable experience on the water.
No prior experience is necessary for this session, making it ideal for those new to paddleboarding. However, all participants must be comfortable swimming at least 50 metres. If you have previous paddleboarding experience, the session can be tailored to help you improve specific aspects of your technique.
The centre offers highly personalised coaching with a 1:1 or 1:2 session format, ensuring that each participant receives focused attention and support throughout. Our instructors are ASI-accredited, with years of experience, dedicated to creating a positive and supportive environment.
Not only will you improve your skills, but you’ll also experience the beauty of the River Avon, with potential sightings of local wildlife, while receiving expert coaching in a safe, enjoyable setting.
Book a 3-session coaching course to save money and progress further with your paddleboarding. Over these sessions, we’ll take you from beginner to proficient paddler, refining your technique, learning advanced manoeuvres, and spending more time exploring the gorgeous River Avon.
After booking your first session, we’ll arrange the subsequent sessions at times that suit you.
Dress according to the weather. In summer, board shorts and T-shirts are great. For sun protection, consider quick-drying clothing and suncream. During cooler months, layers or a hoody are advisable, and you're welcome to bring your own wetsuit. We offer wetsuits and thermal rash vests too.
For footwear, water shoes, old trainers, or barefoot are all suitable. Don't forget a towel and a change of clothes, just in case.
