Get ready for an unforgettable private coasteering adventure along Cornwall’s coast, tailored entirely to your group. Led by expert guides, this session combines sea swimming, scrambling, and cliff jumping in one of the UK’s most scenic coastal settings. While based in Mousehole, the location may change depending on weather and sea conditions to ensure safety and the best possible experience. Whether you want thrills, laughs, or simply a memorable group activity, this session can be adapted to suit all ages and abilities.
Once everyone is checked in and kitted out with full safety gear including a winter wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet, you’ll receive a safety briefing and introduction to coasteering techniques. From there, you’ll head out with your instructor to explore the coastline. Depending on the sea state and weather, your session may take place at Mousehole or move to a nearby, safer location. All sites are chosen for their accessibility, adventure features and suitability for the group’s age and confidence level.
In the water, you’ll follow your guide through rock gullies, sea caves, plunge pools and optional cliff jumps. Every element is flexible – nothing is mandatory – so younger or less confident participants can skip any part. The focus is on having fun safely, working as a group, and making the most of Cornwall’s rugged shoreline. Expect to spend around 2 hours in the water, with time either side for changing and briefing, depending on the conditions and pace of your group.
Mousehole, near Penzance (TR19 6RT), is the main meeting point for this experience. Depending on weather, swell, and tide, your session may move to an alternative nearby site to ensure maximum safety and enjoyment.
All backup locations are carefully selected for their natural features, safety, and suitability for private groups. You'll be advised of any changes with as much notice as possible.
Participants must be able to swim at least 50 metres unaided. This is a physically active experience in open water, but it’s suitable for beginners and families, with every element optional. Children aged 6+ can join private sessions, and under-18s are allowed to take part without parents present, as this is a licensed and fully insured provider.
Suitable footwear (trainers or sturdy wetsuit boots) is essential. Please also bring swimwear, a towel or changing robe, shorts to wear over the wetsuit, and any medication needed. Glasses and jewellery cannot be worn during the session.
The centre has been running wave-based adventures for over 20 years, building a team known for professionalism, humour, and outstanding coaching. Led by former national coaches and assessors, their guides deliver top-level safety and personalised sessions across Cornwall.
Whether you're trying coasteering for the first time or want a family experience that’s exciting but safe, their team creates the perfect balance of challenge and enjoyment—making sure your day on the coast is one to remember.
Safety is always the top priority. If conditions in Mousehole are deemed unsuitable due to swell, tide, or weather, your session will be moved to a nearby alternative location.
These alternative spots are carefully selected in advance to offer similar features and challenge levels, so your experience won’t be compromised. You’ll be informed of any location changes with as much notice as possible, and all alternate locations remain within a short drive of the original meeting point.
Not at all. One of the best things about a private coasteering session is how adaptable it is.
Your guide will explain each element before you attempt it, and you’re always welcome to skip anything you’re not comfortable with. Whether you want to try the biggest jumps or just enjoy a gentle swim and explore the caves, the session is tailored entirely to your group’s preferences.
Your safety is our number 1 priority. On arrival, each member of your group will be equipped with a warm winter wetsuit, buoyancy aid, diving mask and helmet.
The adventure will be run at your pace and all our jump spots have small (1 metre), medium (1-3 metre) and large (3 metre +) options to match your confidence.
Trainers or robust wetsuit boots with good grip are essential for this activity. Footwear needs to stay secure in the water and protect your feet from sharp rocks and barnacles.
Beach shoes with thin soles or elastic toggles are not suitable and may lead to you being excluded from the session for safety reasons. If you're unsure, it's best to wear an old pair of lace-up trainers.
Swimwear should be worn under your wetsuit. We recommend putting your swimwear on before arriving to save time when changing.
You'll also need a pair of shorts to wear over the wetsuit – this protects the suit from wear when sitting or climbing on rocks. If you forget your shorts, a spare pair can be provided, but it's always best to bring your own.
You don’t need to be an athlete, but a basic level of physical fitness is required. You’ll be swimming, climbing, and moving around uneven terrain in open water, so comfort in the sea is important.
Most people with moderate fitness and no mobility issues will be fine. If you have any medical conditions or injuries, let us know beforehand so we can advise appropriately.
Yes – the centre is AALA licensed, which means under-18s can participate without adult supervision.
However, we always recommend coasteering as a shared activity for families or groups as it's a great bonding experience. For children under 18 attending alone, a completed parental consent form will be required in advance.
We do not allow glasses and any obstructing jewellery to be worn whilst Coasteering.
Jewellery includes rings, necklaces, bracelets and hooped earrings. All valuables can be stored safely in our safe whilst we recommend using contact lenses during the lesson.
Prescription goggles are acceptable.
The in-water coasteering part typically lasts around 2 hours. The full session, including meeting your guide, changing into and out of kit, safety briefing and final wrap-up, usually takes up to 3 hours in total.
The pace is relaxed and adjusted to the needs of your group, so there's no rushing to keep to a strict schedule.
Your instructor will carry a waterproof camera and take action shots throughout the session, capturing key moments like jumps, climbs and cave exploration.
After the session, the photos will be made available to your group free of charge. These images are a great way to relive the experience and share it with friends and family.

Coasterring with Lizard adventure. Great day out. Rory was great with us. Got some sea snacks along the way. Great jumps for all levels. Saw the seals. All in all a great day out
I was impressed that Steve contacted me to ask if my adolescents would like a more adventurous experience and tailored the coasteering to them. They all had a great time - came back exhilarated and exhausted. Thanks also for taking some great photos
We had a fab time with Steve guiding us. A wide range of abilities and Steve enabled us all to meet our challenges and succeed. Highly recommend this as an amazing activity. Thumbs up for Steve. Thank you.
Five stars great fun and engaging and entertaining hosting!
It was great and our guide was very enthusiastic, personable and conscientious. Thankyou!
Absolutely fabulous. Chris(?) the instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful but also definitely a ‘people person’. It was my first ever time and I loved every second of it. Will definitely do again. But wanting to make this a frequent thing for me. Sad to think it may not be…
Adam was a very knowledgeable and seemingly very experienced guide on our sea kayaking adventure from Mullion Cove. We had a great time, paddling alongside seals and in and out of caves and coves.
We partner with Rewilding Britain to help protect our natural spaces for future adventures.
All centres are vetted for safety and quality. Your adventure is in good hands with adventuro.
