Take your diving skills further with the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course. Designed for certified Open Water Divers, this programme expands your experience and introduces new underwater challenges. You’ll gain confidence in diverse conditions while building advanced techniques that prepare you for deeper dives and specialty courses.
During the course, you’ll complete five adventure dives across two days. Each dive focuses on a specific skill set, such as deep diving, underwater navigation, or night diving. You’ll choose dives that match your interests, allowing you to explore your preferred underwater challenges while broadening your overall diving experience.
Theory is delivered through PADI eLearning, covering advanced dive planning, dive physics, dive physiology, and equipment knowledge. Our instructors supplement your learning with insights from real diving scenarios, ensuring you can confidently apply your knowledge during the adventure dives.
Practical sessions give you the chance to put theory into practice under instructor supervision. From exploring wrecks and kelp forests to navigating underwater terrain, you’ll refine techniques, improve situational awareness, and enhance your problem-solving skills. By the end of the course, you’ll be prepared to tackle a wide range of diving environments with competence and confidence.
Training takes place at Littlehampton Marina, where pool sessions, briefings, and equipment preparation are handled in a comfortable, purpose-built environment. This ensures a safe and supportive start to the course.
Open water adventure dives are conducted at nearby coastal sites, chosen for their accessibility and diversity. These locations provide opportunities to practice depth, navigation, and environmental awareness in real-world conditions while observing a variety of marine life.
You must hold a PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent) certification and be able to pass a basic medical screening. Skills from your initial training are assumed, allowing you to build on your existing experience.
Divers aged 12–14 will receive a Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification, which can be upgraded at 15. You should feel confident in swimming, buoyancy control, and basic rescue skills.
Instructors provide expert guidance and personalised feedback, ensuring that each diver develops at their own pace. Their years of experience allow them to anticipate challenges and provide practical advice for handling diverse underwater situations.
The centre’s modern facilities and well-maintained equipment create a safe, comfortable, and focused learning environment. In addition, our community of divers offers support, camaraderie, and shared experiences that enhance learning and enjoyment.
