This private Discover Scuba Diving session is designed for non-certified divers who want a safe, supported introduction to breathing and moving underwater. With one guided dive and full instruction, it’s a straightforward way to experience Okinawa’s coral reefs without committing to a full course.
The session is calm, closely supervised, and paced entirely around you, making it suitable for first-time divers who want clear guidance and time to get comfortable underwater.
The session begins at the port with paperwork followed by a clear, beginner-focused briefing. Your instructor explains how the equipment works, how to breathe underwater, and what safety procedures will be used during the dive. This is done at a relaxed pace, with time to ask questions before heading out on the boat.
Once at the dive site, you’ll enter the water gradually and complete basic skills at shallow depth before continuing the dive. The instructor stays close throughout, managing buoyancy and positioning while allowing you to focus on breathing and enjoying the surroundings. Depth and duration are adjusted based on comfort, not a fixed target.
Dive sites are selected on the day by the boat captain based on weather and sea conditions. Expect coral reefs with tropical fish such as clownfish and snappers, and calm areas suitable for first-time divers. Photos and short video clips are taken during the dive and shared afterwards at no extra cost.
Diving takes place by boat around Minna Island, Sesoko Island, or the coastal waters of Motobu in northern Okinawa. These areas are known for shallow reef structures, good visibility, and conditions suitable for introductory scuba diving.
The final site choice is made on the day to prioritise safety and visibility. This flexibility allows the session to avoid swell or strong currents and focus on locations best suited to beginner divers.
No prior diving experience or certification is required. Participants must be able to follow instructions, feel comfortable in the water, and meet the minimum age requirement of 10 years. All equipment is provided, and no prior training is expected.
For safety and insurance reasons, this activity is not suitable for people with certain medical conditions, including heart or respiratory issues, epilepsy, diabetes, recent surgeries, or low levels of fitness. Participants must also observe height, weight, and age limits. A minimum no-fly interval of 18 hours is required after the dive.
This session is run privately, allowing the instructor to tailor the pace and depth to each individual or group. There is no pressure to progress faster than you’re comfortable with, which is especially important for first-time divers.
Instruction is delivered by a highly experienced bilingual instructor with decades of international diving experience. Equipment is professionally maintained, safety procedures are clearly explained, and photography is included as standard so you can focus fully on the dive itself.
No experience is required. This session is specifically designed for people who have never dived before and want a safe introduction.
All skills are taught step by step, and the instructor manages depth and buoyancy throughout the dive.
The dive stays at beginner-appropriate depth, adjusted to your comfort level rather than a fixed depth limit.
If you feel uncomfortable at any point, the instructor can immediately adjust or end the dive.
Underwater time varies depending on comfort, breathing rate, and conditions, but the session allows sufficient time to experience scuba properly rather than a rushed descent.
The overall schedule includes briefing, boat travel, and equipment setup.
