Combining group paddleboarding with coastal snorkelling, these Monster SUP tours offer a relaxed way to explore Cornwall’s hidden coves and sheltered waters. Starting from Newquay Harbour, the session mixes beginner-friendly paddleboarding with guided snorkel stops where participants can float, explore and look for marine life along the coastline.
After arriving at the harbour base, participants begin with a full safety briefing before getting changed into winter wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets. The instructors then introduce the 8-man Monster SUP and guide the group through warm-up exercises and paddling drills in the sheltered harbour waters before heading further along the coastline.
Once everyone feels comfortable paddling together, the session moves out towards quieter coves and hidden sections of coastline where the pace becomes more relaxed and exploratory. Along the route, the group stops regularly to enter the water wearing full face snorkel masks, allowing participants to float comfortably while spotting marine life, shellfish and underwater rock formations below the surface. The calm nature of the tour makes it suitable for beginners and families wanting a more laid-back ocean experience while still enjoying time on the water as a group.
Between snorkel stops, the instructors continue helping participants improve their paddling technique and group coordination on the Monster SUP. Wildlife sightings often vary depending on the conditions and season, with guides sharing local knowledge about the coastline and marine environment throughout the tour. Returning to shore, the group heads back to base for changing facilities and showers.
Launching from Newquay Harbour allows the tour to begin in sheltered calm water before progressing gradually towards quieter coves and rocky sections of coastline nearby. The protected harbour environment makes it ideal for beginner paddlers while still offering direct access to clear water and coastal exploration routes.
Seen from the water, this stretch of Cornwall reveals hidden corners often missed from land. Rocky inlets, sea life and calmer snorkelling areas all help create a slower-paced experience focused on enjoying the coastline and ocean environment.
No previous paddleboarding or snorkelling experience is required to join the tour. Instructors explain all techniques and safety procedures before heading out onto the water, making the activity suitable for beginners and mixed ability groups.
Participants aged 8 to 11 must be accompanied by an adult during group sessions. Private sessions are available for groups of four or more and can accommodate younger participants aged 5 and above.
Using years of paddleboarding and coastal guiding experience, the team has developed a session that combines exploration, wildlife spotting and beginner-friendly paddleboarding into one relaxed ocean activity. The large shared Monster SUP creates a sociable atmosphere while remaining stable and accessible for first-time paddlers.
Mel brings extensive local and watersports knowledge, helping visitors choose sessions suited to their group while ensuring the experience remains welcoming and enjoyable throughout. Operating directly from Newquay Harbour also allows quick access to sheltered teaching water and scenic snorkelling locations nearby.
