Discover one of Venice's most relaxing islands on a guided bike tour through the Lido, where elegant seaside architecture, sandy beaches and cinematic history come together. Cycling along quiet roads and coastal paths, you'll explore a side of the lagoon that many visitors never experience, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy sea views, local history and peaceful natural landscapes.
Cycle across the island of the Lido, discovering grand Belle Époque hotels, Art Nouveau villas, quiet nature reserves, historic villages and wide sandy beaches. Along the way you'll visit the home of the Venice Film Festival, explore one of the lagoon's oldest Jewish cemeteries, ride to panoramic viewpoints overlooking both the Adriatic Sea and Venice Lagoon, and finish with time in the charming fishing village of Malamocco before returning to your starting point.
The Lido di Venezia is a long barrier island separating the Venice Lagoon from the Adriatic Sea. Known for its beaches, elegant architecture and relaxed atmosphere, it offers an entirely different experience from Venice's historic centre while remaining just a short vaporetto ride away.
The cycling route follows quiet roads, promenades and dedicated cycle paths across much of the island, combining coastal scenery, historic landmarks, peaceful natural areas and traditional villages. The terrain is almost entirely flat, making it suitable for riders of a wide range of abilities.
This tour is suitable for anyone who is comfortable riding a bicycle over mostly flat terrain for approximately four and a half hours, including regular sightseeing stops. No previous cycling experience beyond basic bike handling is required.
Child bikes are available with advance notice, although infant seats are not available. The experience is not wheelchair accessible. If you have sensory, cognitive or mobility requirements, please contact us before booking so suitable arrangements can be explored wherever possible.
Led by a licensed Venetian guide, this tour offers far more than a leisurely bike ride. Along the way you'll discover how the Lido developed into one of Europe's most fashionable seaside resorts, learn about its architectural heritage, uncover fascinating local history and hear the stories behind the Venice Film Festival and the island's unique communities.
With small group sizes, an easy-paced route and bike hire included, the experience is ideal for travellers looking to explore beyond Venice's busiest attractions. Combining history, coastline, nature and local culture, it provides a memorable introduction to one of the lagoon's most distinctive islands.
Meet your guide near Santa Maria Elisabetta before setting off along the elegant tree-lined avenues that made the Lido one of Europe's most fashionable seaside destinations during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
You'll cycle past beautiful Art Nouveau villas and two of the island's most iconic hotels: the famous Hotel Excelsior and the historic Hotel des Bains, both symbols of the Lido's glamorous past.
Continue to the Palazzo del Cinema, home of the Venice International Film Festival. Learn how the world's oldest film festival transformed the island into an international destination and hear stories of the actors, directors and filmmakers who gather here every year.
Your guide will also explain how cinema has helped shape the modern image of Venice across the world.
Leaving the busier areas behind, you'll follow peaceful cycling routes along the lagoon, enjoying uninterrupted views towards Venice's skyline and neighbouring islands.
A stop within a protected nature reserve offers a chance to appreciate the quieter side of the Lido, where coastal vegetation and birdlife create a completely different atmosphere from Venice's canals.
Ride through protected coastal landscapes before following the old harbour pier towards the San Nicolò Lighthouse. From here you'll enjoy panoramic views across the Adriatic Sea, the lagoon entrance and back towards the elegant outline of the island's historic grand hotels.
It's one of the finest viewpoints on the Lido and an excellent place for photographs.
Continue south to Malamocco, one of the oldest settlements in the Venetian Lagoon. Often described as a miniature Venice, its colourful houses, narrow canals and quiet streets provide a glimpse into traditional island life away from the city's busiest areas.
Your guide will share the history of this charming fishing village while you explore its peaceful squares and waterfront.
In case of light rain, the tour will still take place. For severe weather conditions, the tour may be rescheduled or refunded.
