Learn essential life-saving skills in just one day with this nationally recognised emergency first aid course. It’s ideal for those working in smaller or lower-risk environments where quick response and basic care can make a real difference. Practical and straightforward, this course provides everything you need to confidently manage emergencies before professional help arrives.
This one-day course focuses on the vital first steps in handling an emergency. You’ll begin by understanding the responsibilities of a first aider, learning how to assess the situation quickly and communicate clearly with casualties and emergency services. Practical exercises will cover the essential skills of CPR, managing choking, and treating bleeding or shock.
The day continues with realistic scenarios designed to build your confidence in responding to workplace incidents. You’ll also learn about the contents of first aid kits, how to prevent cross-infection, and the importance of accurate record keeping. Training with AED equipment is included, giving you the chance to practise using this life-saving device in a safe and supportive setting.
The course is held in Nuneaton, Warwickshire (CV11 6RP), where participants can train in a comfortable, well-equipped environment designed for interactive learning. The setting encourages engagement and allows plenty of space for practical work and demonstrations.
Conveniently located near key transport routes, the venue is easy to reach from nearby towns and cities. Local cafés and shops make it simple to grab lunch during the break, helping the day run smoothly and efficiently.
Learners must be physically capable of completing all first aid activities, including CPR and casualty handling. Attendance for the full duration of the course is required to be eligible for certification.
No previous experience is necessary, and all training materials are provided. The course is suitable for complete beginners or anyone looking to refresh existing knowledge in a concise and practical format.
With over a decade of experience delivering workplace health and safety training, this centre focuses on making first aid approachable and effective. Training is delivered in a relaxed, friendly environment that encourages questions and hands-on learning.
Led by an instructor with more than thirty years in training, each session blends expert guidance with real-world relevance. The team takes pride in helping individuals and businesses meet safety requirements while gaining skills that genuinely make a difference in emergencies.
This one-day course is designed to teach participants how to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations. It covers essential first aid procedures suitable for low-risk workplaces such as offices, shops, and small businesses. The training ensures that you meet the requirements set out by the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
By the end of the course, you’ll be equipped to manage incidents safely and calmly, from treating minor injuries to performing CPR. The aim is to build your confidence so that you can take control in those vital moments before emergency services arrive.
The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is shorter and focuses on the essential skills needed for immediate response to common workplace incidents. It’s best suited to smaller or lower-risk organisations that require a qualified first aider but don’t need the extended coverage of the three-day course.
In contrast, the full First Aid at Work qualification covers a wider range of illnesses, injuries, and more complex scenarios over three days. Many workplaces choose this one-day version as it provides the required certification while keeping time commitments to a minimum.
The course includes all of the key skills required by the HSE, including CPR, treating unconscious casualties, managing bleeding, dealing with choking, and responding to shock. You’ll also learn how to assess an emergency situation safely and communicate effectively with both casualties and colleagues.
Minor conditions such as cuts, grazes, and burns are also covered, along with guidance on maintaining a first aid kit, avoiding cross-infection, and recording incidents accurately. AED training is also included, giving you valuable hands-on experience with defibrillation equipment.
The course blends short theory sessions with practical, scenario-based exercises. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to practise the techniques yourself under the supervision of your instructor, helping you build both competence and confidence throughout the day.
Interactive learning is encouraged, so you can ask questions, discuss real examples, and learn from others in the group. By the end of the session, you’ll feel ready to handle common emergencies with calm and clear decision-making.
Yes, successful participants will be awarded the HABC Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work certificate. This qualification is recognised nationally and is valid for three years from the date of completion.
The certificate demonstrates that you’ve met workplace first aid standards and are qualified to act as an emergency first aider in accordance with current UK health and safety legislation. It’s a great addition to your CV and professional development record.
There is no formal written exam. Instead, you’ll be assessed throughout the day through observation, practical demonstrations, and oral questioning by your instructor. This allows you to show your understanding in a supportive and relaxed setting.
The assessment style ensures that everyone, regardless of prior experience, can succeed. The focus is on showing practical competence rather than memorising theory, making it an accessible qualification for all learners.
All necessary materials and equipment are provided, including first aid supplies and AED training devices. You just need to wear comfortable clothing suitable for kneeling or moving during practical exercises.
As lunch isn’t included, you may want to bring your own food or make use of the nearby cafés and shops during the break. A notebook and pen are also handy for taking down any key points or reminders.
