Step onto real rock with a full day of private outdoor climbing in the Peak District. Designed for beginners and indoor climbers looking to transition outside, the session focuses on building confidence through hands-on learning. With a dedicated instructor for your group, the day is tailored to your pace and experience.
Your day starts with a clear introduction to the plan, equipment and safety systems used in outdoor climbing. You’ll get involved straight away, learning how to fit your harness, tie in and understand how everything works before moving onto the rock.
Climbing begins on carefully selected routes suited to beginners, allowing you to get comfortable with movement on natural rock. Throughout the day, guidance is given on foot placement, balance and body positioning, helping you move more efficiently. You’ll also learn how to belay and manage the rope, giving you a full understanding of how climbing works as a team.
As the session progresses, you’ll spend more time climbing and applying what you’ve learned with increasing independence. There’s also time spent looking at guidebooks and how to understand routes outdoors, giving you useful knowledge for future climbing. The pace is kept flexible so the day works around your group and how you progress.
Sessions take place across a range of Peak District climbing venues, selected based on weather conditions and group needs. Common locations include The Roaches and Stanage Edge, both well suited to beginner-friendly climbing.
Each venue offers a variety of routes that allow steady progression throughout the day, ensuring a safe and enjoyable introduction to outdoor climbing. Final meeting details are confirmed in advance.
No previous climbing experience is needed to take part. The session is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with indoor experience looking to try climbing on real rock.
Participants should be comfortable spending a full day outdoors and willing to take part in physical activity. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the session.
Coaching is delivered by an experienced, qualified climbing coach with over a decade of experience working with beginners and developing climbers. Sessions focus on clear instruction and building confidence through practical learning.
As a small family-run setup, the emphasis is on personal attention and a supportive environment. Each session is tailored to the group, ensuring everyone progresses at a pace that suits them.
