🗺️What to Expect
On arrival at Coniston Water, you’ll meet your instructor and get kitted out with all the equipment needed for the session. After a short safety briefing, you’ll be introduced to your board and paddle, learning how to carry and handle them correctly before heading to the water’s edge. The first part of the session focuses on building confidence, starting with prone paddling and understanding how the board behaves on the water.
As you progress, you’ll move into kneeling and then standing positions, learning proper stance and balance. The instructor will guide you through key paddling techniques, helping you move efficiently while maintaining control. You’ll also cover how to turn the board, avoid common hazards, and what to do if you fall in, including how to safely get back on.
Once everyone is comfortable, you’ll spend time paddling across the lake, putting your new skills into practice. The calm waters make it easier to focus on technique while still enjoying the open surroundings. By the end of the session, you’ll have a solid foundation and the confidence to continue paddleboarding independently or progress onto guided tours.
