🗺️ What to Expect
Your session begins at Coniston Water where your group will meet the instructor and get equipped with everything needed for the activity. After a clear safety briefing, you’ll be introduced to the paddleboards and shown how to carry and handle them correctly before heading onto the water. The first stage focuses on building confidence, starting with prone paddling and understanding how the board responds.
As everyone becomes more comfortable, you’ll move through kneeling to standing, learning correct stance and positioning. The instructor will guide the group through key paddling techniques, helping you move efficiently and maintain control. You’ll also cover turning, awareness of surroundings, and how to deal with falling in safely, including getting back onto the board without assistance.
With a private group, the session can adapt to your pace, allowing for more time practising skills or adding light group challenges along the way. Once the basics are covered, you’ll paddle together across the lake, taking in the open surroundings while building confidence on the water. The session finishes with a solid foundation in paddleboarding and a shared experience that works well for groups of all kinds.
📍 Location
Coniston Water is set within the Lake District National Park in Cumbria, an area known for its lakes, open landscapes, and access to outdoor activities. The lake itself offers long stretches of water with quieter sections that are ideal for learning and group sessions. Its size allows plenty of space for private groups to enjoy the experience without feeling crowded.
The surrounding area includes traditional villages, walking routes, and easy access to nearby lakes such as Windermere. It’s a popular destination for day trips and longer stays, with a good mix of outdoor activity and places to relax, making it well suited for group outings.
📋 Prerequisites
Participants should be aged 10 or over and have a basic level of fitness and mobility to take part comfortably. No previous paddleboarding experience is required, as the session is designed to introduce the activity in a clear and supportive way.
Everyone should feel comfortable around water and be able to follow safety instructions throughout the session. As part of the learning process, getting wet is expected, so participants should come prepared for that and ready to take part fully.
