Day 1: Glen Clova to Braemar via Jock's Road
Starting in Glen Clova, the most beautiful of the Angus Glens, this run follows Jock’s Road, an ancient drover’s route. The trail climbs gently through Glen Doll before ascending to the high plateau, offering wild, open running across fells. After reaching the summit, the route descends into Glen Callater and finishes just outside Braemar.
Day 2: Lin of Dee to Aviemore via the Lairig Ghru
This day takes you through the famous Lairig Ghru, a glacial pass flanked by towering mountains. Starting with a warm-up on wide trails, the path becomes rugged as it passes beneath Ben Macdui. After crossing the Pools of Dee at the high point, the route descends on singletrack paths into Aviemore’s pine forests.
Day 3: Glen Affric to Kintail
A route known for its beauty, this day runs through Glen Affric, home to ancient Caledonian pine forests. The trail follows the shores of Loch Affric, climbing to the col below Beinn Fhada before descending to Kintail. With a mix of gentle gradients and technical sections, it’s a great day to stretch your legs.
Day 4: Achnasheen to Torridon
This route explores the trails around Glen Torridon. Starting with a gradual climb to Coulin Pass, the trail winds through Coire Lair, offering views of sandstone mountains and glacial formations. The final stretch is an exciting descent into Torridon.
Day 5: Fisherfield Wilderness
The week concludes with a crossing of the Fisherfield Wilderness, one of Scotland’s most remote regions. Starting at sea level, the trail weaves through lochans and mountains, with climbs to mountain passes and descents to the Shenavall Bothy.
