Escape the hustle of central Rome and enjoy a guided e-bike journey through one of the city’s most historic and scenic areas. You will ride past ancient tombs, Roman aqueducts, and golden fields while exploring the Catacombs, all with stories and insights from an expert guide. Private tour options give a more personalised experience for those seeking extra attention.
Start at Appia Antica, just a few kilometres from the Colosseum, where the guide will lead you along quiet roads closed to traffic. You will cycle past Capo di Bove, the Sepulchre of the Festoons, and impressive aqueducts, with your guide sharing stories about the ancient structures and the local countryside.
A stop at the Catacombs of San Callisto and the Basilica of San Sebastiano offers a glimpse into Rome’s mysterious underground world. Descend into the labyrinths to experience centuries-old history, then continue pedalling through Tor Fiscale Park and Caffarella Park, enjoying shaded paths and peaceful natural scenery.
The route balances gentle cycling with immersive storytelling, allowing time to enjoy views and take photos. Private tours allow flexibility to linger at points of interest and tailor the experience to your preferences.
Appia Antica is located just outside central Rome, offering a historic escape from busy streets. Ancient monuments and aqueducts line the traffic-free paths, while golden fields and pastoral landscapes surround you, creating a unique blend of culture and nature.
Quiet roads and parks make this route suitable for riders of varying experience. Your guide will point out notable landmarks and share historical context, enhancing your understanding of the area and making the ride both relaxing and educational.
You must be comfortable riding an e-bike and able to navigate both paved and dirt paths. Children under 12 may use extensions, and infants up to 20 kg can travel in child seats. Riders should be able to pedal for the full duration and follow safety instructions.
Wear comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for cycling, and bring water if needed. For multi-day plans, ensure your accommodation can safely store e-bikes overnight.
Expert guides combine deep knowledge of Roman history with attentive cycling support, offering informative commentary and safe guidance throughout the tour. They highlight famous landmarks as well as hidden gems, ensuring a memorable experience.
High-quality e-bikes, helmets, and locks are provided so you can focus on the ride. Small group sizes and private options allow a tailored experience, whether enjoying countryside views, exploring catacombs, or taking time at historic stops.
Light rain doesn’t affect the running of the tour, so the activity goes ahead as planned. Participants are offered complimentary waterproof ponchos to keep them comfortable throughout, and the guide adjusts the pace if needed to suit the conditions. Many groups enjoy the experience just as much in gentle rain, especially with the extra layer provided.
More severe conditions, such as heavy rain or thunderstorms, mean the tour cannot run safely. If this happens, the session is cancelled and the full amount paid is refunded. Safety is the guiding factor in these decisions, and updates are passed on as early as possible so participants know exactly what to expect.
We welcome a wide range of ages on our e-bike tours, and the equipment provided is matched carefully to each rider. Younger children can join using either a rear baby seat for ages 1–5 (up to 20 kg) or a trailer bike for ages 6–9, both of which are securely attached to an adult’s e-bike. From age 10 onward, children may ride their own e-bike if they have solid independent cycling experience and are at least 140 cm tall, though we generally recommend independent riding from age 11.
There are also a few upper limits to keep everyone safe and comfortable. The maximum recommended age for participants is 75, and the weight limit for any rider or equipment setup is 100 kg. These guidelines help ensure each bike performs as intended and that every participant enjoys a smooth and controlled ride.
Our regular tours operate with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 participants, which keeps each outing comfortable and well-paced. These small-group limits apply to standard daily departures, ensuring riders receive plenty of guidance and support from the team throughout the experience.
For larger parties, the capacity expands significantly. The centre is fully equipped to organise multiple groups at the same time and can handle single bookings far above the usual numbers, with the ability to accommodate up to 80 participants in one coordinated session. This structure allows big groups to enjoy the same quality of service while moving through the route smoothly and safely.
You will cycle along the famous Via Appia Antica, passing monuments such as Capo di Bove, Sepulchre of the Festoons, and the Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella. The route also includes scenic stops in Aqueduct Park, Tor Fiscale Park, and Caffarella Park, providing a mixture of natural landscapes and ancient engineering marvels. Each stop is chosen to give insight into Roman history, architecture, and daily life in antiquity.
A guided visit to the Catacombs of San Callisto adds a further layer of historical depth. Descending into these labyrinthine chambers, you will experience first-hand the burial practices and religious history of early Rome. Your guide will share detailed stories, explaining symbolism, architecture, and the cultural context of these underground spaces.
