Stroll through Foligno’s ancient streets to discover its churches, palaces, and artisan shops, while learning about local traditions.
The day also highlights Umbrian gastronomy, with the chance to taste traditional dishes such as tortelli alla folignate and porchetta, paired with Sagrantino wine. The evening is free for participants to enjoy the lively atmosphere and prepare for the following day’s cycling adventure.
Day 2 – Spello & Assisi via the Valley of Olives (18 miles)
Depart Foligno and cycle along scenic trails through olive groves toward Spello, a town known for its floral displays and charming historic streets. Riders experience a sensory journey, with the aromas of olive trees and the colors of blooming flowers enriching the ride.
Continue along the “Via degli Ulivi” toward Assisi, taking in panoramic views of rolling hills and medieval villages. Arrive in Assisi to visit the Basilica of St. Francis and explore the medieval streets. An authentic olive oil tasting allows participants to become apprentice tasters for the day, deepening the connection with the region’s culinary heritage. The day concludes with a return to Foligno for a relaxed evening.
Day 3 – Bevagna & Montefalco via the Valley of Vineyards (18 miles)
Cycle from Foligno to Bevagna, a perfectly preserved medieval town with walls, towers, and squares evoking the Middle Ages. Explore the historic center, capturing the essence of Umbrian culture and architecture.
From Bevagna, ride along the Assisi-Spoleto cycle path to Montefalco, the “Balcony of Umbria,” where panoramic views of vineyards and hills await. Experience total immersion in nature before visiting a local winery for a tasting and light lunch of regional specialties. The afternoon concludes with a return shuttle to Rome, bringing participants back with lasting memories and photographs of this sensory journey through Umbria.
