Refresh your first aid knowledge and stay certified with this comprehensive two-day recertification course. Designed for those who already hold a valid First Aid at Work qualification, this course ensures your skills and understanding remain current with HSE standards. You’ll revisit essential techniques, practise updated procedures, and leave fully prepared to continue acting as a qualified workplace first aider.
This two-day refresher is designed to bring existing first aiders back up to date with the latest techniques and regulations. Training revisits key topics such as incident assessment, CPR, and the management of wounds, bleeding, and shock. You’ll review how to recognise and respond to illnesses and injuries like chest pain, spinal trauma, and anaphylaxis while refreshing your confidence in applying these skills.
The course also includes AED training and scenario-based sessions to reinforce real-world application. Instructors provide plenty of hands-on practice and individual feedback, ensuring you not only meet certification standards but feel confident and capable in your role. By the end, you’ll have renewed your HABC Level 3 certificate and strengthened your ability to respond swiftly and effectively in emergencies.
Training is delivered in Nuneaton, Warwickshire (CV11 6RP), at a well-equipped facility designed to support interactive and practical learning. The venue provides a relaxed yet professional environment where participants can focus fully on refreshing their first aid skills.
Easily accessible from surrounding areas, the location benefits from good public transport links and nearby parking. Local amenities such as cafés and shops make it convenient to grab lunch or refreshments during your course breaks.
To attend this course, learners must already hold a valid First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work Recertification certificate. This must be shown before attending the course, and it must remain valid throughout the duration of training. Certificates can be renewed up to three months before expiry without losing any time from the new qualification period.
Participants must also be physically capable of carrying out all required procedures, including CPR and casualty handling. Full attendance across both days is necessary to meet the qualification requirements.
This training provider combines decades of teaching experience with a personable, supportive approach to safety education. The instructor brings over thirty years of experience and ensures every learner feels confident, competent, and comfortable throughout their training.
The centre is well known for its approachable teaching style and commitment to quality. Courses are designed to balance professionalism with a welcoming atmosphere, helping participants refresh their knowledge without stress while meeting all legal and workplace compliance standards.
This course is intended for those who already hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate and need to renew it before it expires. It’s suitable for anyone who continues to have first aid responsibilities in the workplace, from office managers to construction supervisors.
It’s also ideal for individuals who want to refresh their knowledge and skills in line with the latest guidance from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Recertifying ensures that you stay confident and compliant in handling medical emergencies at work.
Your HABC Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate remains valid for three years. Before it expires, you must complete this two-day recertification course to continue being recognised as a qualified first aider.
The HSE recommends renewing your qualification within the final three months of its validity. You can attend the course early, and any remaining time on your current certificate will automatically be added to the new one.
The course revisits all key areas of the original First Aid at Work programme, including assessing incidents, performing CPR, and using an AED. You’ll also refresh your knowledge of dealing with bleeding, shock, burns, fractures, and conditions such as heart attacks and anaphylaxis.
Scenario-based learning forms a major part of the recertification, allowing you to practise real-life situations in a supportive setting. This practical approach ensures your skills remain sharp and aligned with the latest safety standards.
If your certificate has expired, you’ll need to take the full three-day First Aid at Work course instead of this recertification. This is because the HSE requires that all first aiders maintain up-to-date, continuous knowledge without a break in certification.
If you’re close to your expiry date, it’s best to book the recertification course early. Renewing before your certificate runs out allows for a smooth transition and keeps your qualification status valid.
Assessment is ongoing throughout both days and is carried out through practical demonstrations and oral questioning. The instructor will observe how you perform each skill and ensure you can apply first aid procedures confidently and correctly.
There’s no formal written exam, so the emphasis is on showing understanding through action. The approach is supportive and designed to help you succeed, focusing on real-world ability rather than exam-style testing.
You’ll need comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement, as many exercises involve kneeling or bending to perform CPR or recovery positions. It’s also useful to bring a notebook and pen for taking notes during discussions.
Lunch isn’t included, so you may want to bring your own or take advantage of nearby cafés and shops during breaks. All course materials and first aid equipment will be provided by the centre.
