All centres are vetted for safety and quality. Your adventure is in good hands with adventuro.

Swap the climbing wall for real Yorkshire grit on a session built for families who want roped climbing, abseiling and bouldering together. Your instructor picks a suitable crag from iconic local venues and keeps the pace fun and confidence led so every age can take part at their own level.
After an encouraging safety briefing and kit check, you will head onto the crag for top-rope climbing with clear coaching on footwork and movement. There is plenty of time to try abseiling, bouldering, or squeezing through gritstone rock passages depending on the venue, so younger climbers can stay close to the ground while others challenge themselves at height.
Your instructor keeps the pace relaxed and adapts the route choices continuously to suit the group. You are never pushed beyond what feels right, ensuring everyone in the family enjoys a genuine outdoor climbing experience in a friendly, supportive atmosphere.
Family sessions take place on famous Yorkshire gritstone at Brimham Rocks, Ilkley Moor Cow and Calf, or Shipley Glen depending on group ages, abilities, and the weather forecast. Instructors meet you at the car park before a short, scenic walk to the climbing area.
Each venue has its own distinct character, from the dramatic natural rock labyrinths of Brimham to the accessible, sheltered quarry bays at Ilkley. We confirm the exact venue, parking directions, and meeting time well in advance so your travel is straightforward.
No previous climbing experience is required; all you need is normal mobility on uneven moorland paths and enthusiasm to try something new. Every family booking must include at least one participating adult aged 18 or over who stays with the group throughout.
Children aged 5 and over are warmly welcomed. Please tell us about any injuries, medical conditions, or worries about heights when booking so we can tailor our coaching and route choices to your group.
The team grew out of school and youth climbing programmes across Yorkshire, so instructors know how to keep mixed groups safe while having serious fun on real rock. We structure every session so children and parents can climb side by side with confidence.
All staff hold recognised Mountain Training qualifications, current outdoor first aid certificates, and enhanced DBS clearances. Kit checks, safety briefings, and positive coaching are built into every session so you always feel supported from start to finish.
Meeting points vary by venue. We confirm the exact crag car park and arrival time before your session. Allow extra time for moorland paths from parking to the climbing area.
Families with children from 5 who want a shared outdoor climbing session on Yorkshire grit. At least one adult aged 18 or over must take part and stay with the group all day.
Tell us ages and confidence levels when you book so we pick a crag and pace that suits everyone, from first-timers to youngsters who already climb indoors.
Your private family booking includes a qualified outdoor instructor, harnesses, helmets and ropes, plus coaching on top-rope climbing, abseiling and bouldering as conditions allow.
Transport to the crag, car parking charges, lunch and personal clothing are not included in the session fee. We confirm the meet point and venue once your date is secured.
We use Brimham Rocks, Ilkley Cow and Calf or Shipley Glen depending on ages, weather and how busy venues are. You receive the exact car park and meet time once your date is confirmed.
Allow a short walk from parking to the climbing area with layers and lunch packed. Directions and grid references are emailed before your session so navigation is straightforward.
Grippy trainers or approach shoes, waterproofs and warm layers for a full day on the moor. Pack lunch, snacks and water for everyone because we stay out on the crag for most of the session.
Sun hats help in summer and personal medication should be carried by whoever needs it. Optional climbing shoes can make footwork easier but are not essential for a first outdoor day.
No prior climbing is required. We fit kit, teach calls and choose easy routes so first-timers can take part safely alongside more confident family members.
Share any height anxiety or mobility needs when you book so coaches can plan alternatives near the ground, such as bouldering or short weaselling-style challenges.
Choose your family group option and request a date through Adventuro. We confirm instructor availability, payment and any consent forms before the session runs.
Under-18s need parent or guardian consent completed before activity day. We email the paperwork link once your booking is accepted so nothing is left until the morning of the climb.
We may move to a more sheltered crag or shorten exposed sections if wind or rain picks up on the moor. Light showers are often fine when everyone has good waterproofs and warm layers.
If we cancel for safety before you travel, we offer reschedule or refund under the terms on this page. Your instructor explains any on-the-day route changes at the morning briefing.
Children from 5 can join when an adult is climbing with them throughout the session. Routes and abseils are scaled to age and confidence so nobody is pushed beyond what feels right.
Very nervous youngsters can stay closer to the ground with bouldering and weaselling-style play while older siblings try higher pitches. Tell us about any worries when you book so we plan the day kindly.
You can book a 3-hour taster or a 6-hour full day as shown in the pricing options. Longer days allow more climbing, abseiling and exploration at venues such as Brimham or Ilkley.
We build in breaks for snacks and weather checks throughout rather than rushing between activities. Finish times can shift slightly with group pace and conditions on the day.
Cancellation fees follow the UK course tiers published on this page. Reschedule is considered when you give at least seven days notice and instructor time is available on another date.
Contact us early if your date no longer works so we can find another slot where possible. Family bookings are popular in school holidays, so prompt notice helps us offer your place to another group.
