This is a driving experience for the whole family to share, not just a ride along. In our Land Rover Discovery TD5s, a BORDA-trained instructor accompanies you to give advice and guidance as adults and juniors (aged 12 to 17) take turns behind the wheel, tackling woodland trails, mud, water, steep inclines and descents, and gravity-defying side slopes.
The instructor gives a brief five-minute demonstration drive to introduce the vehicle's handling and the course layout, then the rest of the session is hands-on for the family. Adults tackle a more extreme section of the course, while juniors start out on flatter ground to get a feel for the vehicle before their drive is tailored to their confidence and ability.
Sessions are built around family combinations rather than a fixed headcount: 60 minutes suits 1 adult and 1 junior driver, 90 minutes suits 1 adult and 2 junior drivers, and the full 2 hours suits 2 adults and 2 junior drivers, giving everyone a proper turn behind the wheel.
Tucked away in woodland just outside Farnsfield in Nottinghamshire, the site offers a safe and varied setting for family off-road driving. With 40 acres of trails, humps and slopes to explore, there's plenty of terrain to keep both adult and junior drivers engaged.
The site is located just off the A617 towards Newark, approximately 200 yards on the left after the A614 roundabout. Sat navs don't always pinpoint the entrance accurately, so it's worth following the written directions provided. Clear signage and staff will help guide you in once you're close.
Junior drivers must be aged 12 to 17, and no driving licence is required for adults or juniors as all driving takes place on private land. Adult drivers should be confident on more technical terrain, while junior sessions are paced to build confidence gradually.
All drivers and passengers must wear seatbelts throughout. Comfortable, weather-suitable clothing is recommended, and if bringing younger children as passengers you'll need to provide and fit your own child seat.
This is one of the few off-road experiences where the whole family can genuinely take turns driving rather than just riding along, with the instructor tailoring the pace and terrain to suit both adult and junior confidence levels.
The session is designed to build confidence in younger drivers while still giving adults a proper technical challenge, making it a memorable shared experience rather than separate rides for different ages.
This is a self-drive family experience, not a passenger ride. Adults and juniors aged 12 to 17 take turns behind the wheel, with a BORDA-trained instructor in the vehicle throughout to give guidance and support.
The adult drives on a more technical section of the course, while the junior driver starts on flatter ground before their session is tailored to their confidence and ability.
Junior drivers must be aged between 12 and 17 years old. No driving licence is required for junior or adult drivers, since all driving takes place on private land.
Younger children who aren't driving are welcome as passengers, provided you bring and fit an appropriate child seat.
The 60-minute session suits 1 adult and 1 junior driver, the 90-minute session suits 1 adult and 2 junior drivers, and the full 2-hour session suits 2 adults and 2 junior drivers.
Choose based on how many family members want a turn behind the wheel, since longer sessions give more people time to drive.
No, a driving licence is not required for either adult or junior drivers. The whole session takes place on private land, so the usual legal requirements for road driving don't apply.
This makes it accessible for junior drivers below driving age, and for adults who haven't yet passed their test.
The course is set in private woodland and includes muddy tracks, water crossings, steep inclines and descents, and gravity-defying side slopes for adult drivers, alongside flatter, gentler terrain for junior drivers to start on.
The instructor adjusts the route and pace to suit whoever is behind the wheel at the time.
Yes, younger children can join as passengers, though you'll need to bring and fit your own appropriate child seat. They'll be able to watch and enjoy the ride while older family members take their turn driving.
The vehicle and course are designed with safety in mind throughout, whether occupants are driving or riding along.
Comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little muddy is recommended, along with sturdy footwear with good grip. Layers are useful as woodland conditions can be cooler than expected.
No specialist equipment is needed, the vehicle and instruction are provided, though you should bring a child seat if travelling with a younger passenger.
Yes, the BORDA-trained instructor stays in the vehicle throughout the session, giving a five-minute demonstration drive at the start and then coaching each family member as they take their turn at the wheel.
This ensures both adult and junior drivers get consistent guidance and support across the whole booking.
The experience takes place on a private 40-acre woodland site featuring a mix of terrain, from technical sections with mud, water and steep gradients to gentler, flatter ground suited to junior drivers.
The variety allows the instructor to tailor each family member's drive to their confidence and skill level within the same session.

Excellent day and an excellent instructor
Jez was a good “host”, helping us along the way. We hadn’t fully read the description of the activity and it turned out to be more physical then expected; however, it didn’t stop us enjoying ourselves - even the assault course was conquered by all.
