For kids who already have some trials experience and want to progress, this two-hour session builds confidence and introduces new skills in a structured but enjoyable way. Designed for riders who can already balance and move forward on two wheels competently, it focuses on proper riding technique while keeping the atmosphere relaxed and encouraging.
On arrival, riders sign in and watch a short safety briefing video before getting fitted with their riding gear. Once grouped by ability, each participant is introduced to their instructor and assigned a bike. Riders hiring will use electric OSET trials bikes with adjustable speed and power, while those bringing their own will have it checked for safety before the session begins.
The first part of the session takes place on open, flat ground where children practise throttle and brake control while standing up on the pegs. Once confident, they move on to marked sections that introduce gentle slopes, tighter turns and light terrain features. Instructors adapt the pace to suit the group, providing clear guidance and encouragement. The emphasis is on safe riding, skill development and ensuring each rider leaves feeling more capable and confident.
Set just outside Whitewell in the Ribble Valley, the venue is purpose-built for trials riding and offers wide, grassy areas that are ideal for learning in a safe environment. The peaceful rural setting means minimal distractions, helping riders focus on developing their skills.
Facilities include indoor shelter, refreshments, and a comfortable seating area for parents to wait and watch. The site is easily accessible from Clitheroe and surrounding towns, with convenient on-site parking.
Children must already be able to ride a pedal bike without assistance and should be confident balancing and moving forward on two wheels. No advanced motorbike skills are required, but they should be ready to stand while riding and follow instructions in a group setting.
This session bridges the gap between beginner and intermediate trials riding, providing a safe and supportive environment for young riders to progress. Lessons are structured to be challenging yet fun, keeping children engaged throughout.
The instructors are experienced in coaching children and use positive, confidence-building methods. With a strong focus on safety and personal progression, each rider gets the right level of guidance to improve without pressure.
Some experience is recommended for this session as it’s aimed at children who can already balance and move forward confidently on two wheels. They don’t need to be advanced riders, but they should be comfortable controlling a bike and ready to try riding while standing up.
If your child has never been on a motorbike before, our beginner-friendly sessions may be a better fit. These introduce the basics at a gentler pace, helping riders gain the initial confidence and skills they’ll need for this progression-level class.
Children with their own bikes can bring them, provided they’re trials-style and safe. For those hiring, the sessions use electric OSET trials bikes, which are well-suited to young beginners thanks to their quiet motors, manageable size and fully adjustable power settings.
These bikes are ideal for controlled riding, and the instructor will set them up appropriately to ensure they’re not too fast or reactive for first-timers. They're the industry standard for safe, fun introduction to trials motorcycling for children.
There is one instructor for every six children to ensure lots of individual attention. The instructors are highly experienced in working with young riders and focus on encouragement and step-by-step instruction.
Children are never left to figure things out alone. The instructor stays close by, offering support, corrections and praise throughout. If any child needs extra help or a bit more time, this is built into the session naturally.
It’s possible that a child might tip over, especially while learning balance, but falls are at very low speed and on soft terrain. Most children bounce back quickly and gain confidence from overcoming minor tumbles.
The instructors teach children how to get off the bike safely and use soft grassy areas for practice. Helmets, gloves, boots and body protection are all provided to keep your child safe while riding.
Yes, parents or guardians are required to stay on site and are welcome to watch from a designated viewing area. You’ll be able to see much of the session and take photos if you'd like.
The venue also provides a seating area with refreshments, so you can relax nearby while keeping an eye on your child’s progress. Staff are on hand if you have any questions during the session.
