If you’ve never ridden a motorcycle before but want to try something new, this full-day beginner experience is the perfect introduction. Designed for complete novices, it covers the fundamentals of trials riding with expert tuition, supportive coaching, and carefully selected bikes to suit your ability.
The day begins with sign-in, full riding kit fitting, and a short safety video. You’ll meet your instructor, get assigned a bike, and go through the day’s plan. The morning focuses on flat terrain to master throttle control, braking, balance, and starting and stopping safely. Once you’ve got the basics, you’ll move onto marked ‘sections’—small obstacle courses designed to develop your control and confidence at a steady pace.
At midday, you’ll return to base for a hot homemade lunch before heading back out for another two hours of riding. The afternoon introduces slightly more challenging terrain, building on the morning’s progress while keeping everything achievable for complete beginners. By the end of the day, you’ll have a solid foundation in trials riding, a clear understanding of bike handling, and the confidence to tackle varied terrain. Optional extras include the ULTIMATE upgrade package, which adds riding gear hire, food, a damage waiver, and a branded t-shirt or hoodie.
Bikes include beginner-friendly electric EM Epure models with adjustable power modes, as well as petrol options like the Beta Evo 250 and Montesa 4RT 260 for those who want to experience classic trials riding.
The venue is set in the Ribble Valley countryside near Clitheroe, offering 100 acres of varied trials terrain including open fields, woodland tracks, and technical sections. The quiet rural surroundings make it an ideal place to learn without distractions.
On-site facilities include a shop and catering van on weekends, as well as secure bike storage for those staying locally. With excellent road connections and close proximity to Clitheroe town centre, it’s convenient for visitors from across the region.
No previous motorcycle experience is required; this course is structured for complete beginners. You must be at least 12 years old, and under-18s must have a parent or guardian present for the full duration.
You may bring your own trials bike if you prefer, or hire one on the day. All necessary riding gear is provided unless you choose to bring your own.
This full-day format gives you the time and space to develop skills without pressure, combining patient, clear instruction with a safe and supportive environment. Each stage is designed to help you progress at a comfortable pace while still feeling challenged.
With access to a large variety of purpose-built terrain and a choice of high-quality electric and petrol bikes, you’ll experience trials riding exactly as it’s meant to be. The focus is on building your confidence, ensuring you leave with both new skills and the enjoyment of trying something completely different.
No previous experience is required for this session. It is specifically designed for people who have never ridden a motorcycle before. The instruction starts with the very basics, including how to balance, control the throttle, and safely handle the bike.
The course progresses at a pace that suits each individual or group, making it ideal for complete novices. Instructors will support you every step of the way to build confidence and skills safely.
The course offers a range of trials bikes, including electric models from the EM Epure series and petrol bikes like the Beta Evo 250 and Montesa 4RT 260. The electric bikes are beginner-friendly, with adjustable power and simplified controls to help you learn more easily.
Petrol bikes provide a more traditional trials experience and are also suitable for beginners who want to try different styles. Instructors will match you to the best bike based on your comfort and ability.
Yes, riders have the option to bring their own trials bike and riding kit. If you prefer this, the course fee is lower since bike hire and equipment rental are not needed.
However, full riding kit is available to hire if required, including boots, helmet, gloves, trials pants, and jersey. Safety is a priority, so appropriate gear is mandatory whether you bring your own or use the provided kit.
The full-day session is split into two 2-hour blocks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, with a hot homemade lunch break in between. This structure gives you time to rest and refuel while maintaining focus during the riding sessions.
Each block consists of practical training tailored to your skill level. You’ll start with flat ground exercises and gradually move onto flagged sections with obstacles, allowing you to build your skills progressively.
Participants must be at least 12 years old to take part. This age limit ensures riders have sufficient physical coordination and understanding of safety instructions.
Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian present on site for the entire duration of the session. This is a safety requirement in case of emergency.
Before riding, you will watch a safety briefing video and be fully briefed by your instructor. Protective gear is provided or can be brought by riders, and wearing it is mandatory throughout the session.
Instructors maintain a close watch on all riders, ensuring everyone rides within their limits and follows site rules. The training area is designed to minimise risk while providing a realistic trials riding experience.
Yes, the ULTIMATE upgrade is available for full-day sessions. It includes bike hire, riding gear hire, a bacon butty on arrival, a hot lunch, a damage waiver, and an IPT-branded t-shirt or hoodie to take home.
