Your journey begins at Roma Termini, boarding the train to Castel Gandolfo. Once in the village, you will select your bike and start cycling through the historic centre, exploring the Papal Palace and enjoying panoramic views over Lake Albano. The combination of culture, history, and natural scenery creates a rich, engaging start to your day.
Continuing towards Nemi, you will pedal along quiet streets and scenic paths while your guide shares fascinating stories of local legends, Roman history, and village life. The picturesque lake, ancient streets, and distinctive architecture provide plenty of opportunities to stop, admire, and take photos. A lunch break at a local restaurant allows you to sample regional specialities and soak in the atmosphere of this ancient village.
The return train ride to Rome gives time to relax and reflect on the day’s experiences. You will leave with memories of beautiful landscapes, historic villages, and culinary delights. This tour balances active cycling with cultural exploration and local tastes, ensuring a memorable day.
Castelli Romani is a series of volcanic hills southeast of Rome, offering a mix of lakes, villages, and woodland trails. Castel Gandolfo is renowned for its historic Papal Palace and stunning views over Lake Albano, while Nemi captivates visitors with its legends, ancient streets, and iconic lake.
During the tour, you will cycle along both asphalt and dirt paths, through village centres and shaded trails. Scenic vistas, historic landmarks, and natural beauty make this area ideal for a cycling day trip combining leisure, history, and light exercise.
Participants should have some experience cycling on mixed surfaces. Comfortable clothing and footwear are recommended, and helmets are provided and must be worn.
This route is suitable for adults and teenagers from 16 upwards. Following the guide’s instructions ensures a safe and enjoyable ride throughout mixed-surface trails and quiet village streets.
This centre is consistently rated highly on Tripadvisor, reflecting excellent local knowledge, safety, and guest satisfaction. Small group tours ensure personal attention, plenty of stops for photos, and the chance to engage with the history and culture of the Castelli Romani.
The team provides high-quality e-bikes and regular bikes, plus all necessary equipment including helmets and locks. Their experience organising cycling tours, combined with insider knowledge of local cuisine, landmarks, and hidden spots, guarantees a rich, immersive, and safe adventure.
Light rain doesn’t affect the running of the tour, so the activity goes ahead as planned. Participants are offered complimentary waterproof ponchos to keep them comfortable throughout, and the guide adjusts the pace if needed to suit the conditions. Many groups enjoy the experience just as much in gentle rain, especially with the extra layer provided.
More severe conditions, such as heavy rain or thunderstorms, mean the tour cannot run safely. If this happens, the session is cancelled and the full amount paid is refunded. Safety is the guiding factor in these decisions, and updates are passed on as early as possible so participants know exactly what to expect.
We welcome a wide range of ages on our e-bike tours, and the equipment provided is matched carefully to each rider. Younger children can join using either a rear baby seat for ages 1–5 (up to 20 kg) or a trailer bike for ages 6–9, both of which are securely attached to an adult’s e-bike. From age 10 onward, children may ride their own e-bike if they have solid independent cycling experience and are at least 140 cm tall, though we generally recommend independent riding from age 11.
There are also a few upper limits to keep everyone safe and comfortable. The maximum recommended age for participants is 75, and the weight limit for any rider or equipment setup is 100 kg. These guidelines help ensure each bike performs as intended and that every participant enjoys a smooth and controlled ride.
Our regular tours operate with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 participants, which keeps each outing comfortable and well-paced. These small-group limits apply to standard daily departures, ensuring riders receive plenty of guidance and support from the team throughout the experience.
For larger parties, the capacity expands significantly. The centre is fully equipped to organise multiple groups at the same time and can handle single bookings far above the usual numbers, with the ability to accommodate up to 80 participants in one coordinated session. This structure allows big groups to enjoy the same quality of service while moving through the route smoothly and safely.
