Test your aim and enjoy a fun, challenging archery experience in the Pembrokeshire countryside. This 1-hour session is suitable for complete beginners or anyone looking to sharpen their skills using high-quality modern recurve bows.
Your session begins with a safety briefing and a proper introduction to the equipment. Using modern recurve bows, you'll learn correct stance, how to nock an arrow, and how to shoot with consistency and control. With small group sizes and no mixed bookings, instruction is focused and paced to suit everyone, whether you're a complete beginner or already familiar with the basics.
Once you're comfortable with the technique, you'll move on to shooting at a range of static targets. The instructor will coach you through improving your accuracy and consistency, offering tips along the way to help you progress. If the weather’s dry, you'll shoot outside with views of the Pembrokeshire countryside. If it rains, the session moves indoors to a covered barn range—still fully equipped and set up for target shooting. With up to five people shooting at once, there's plenty of time on the line and no waiting around.
The session takes place at Ffynnon Hafod, just outside the village of Tavernspite in Pembrokeshire. Full directions, including a What3Words link, will be sent after booking. The entrance is clearly marked by a two-bladed wind turbine, and there’s parking between the barns once you reach the end of the drive.
The location offers a peaceful, rural setting surrounded by fields and open skies. Archery sessions are held outdoors whenever possible, with the indoor barn available as a backup. The barn isn't heated, so dressing for the weather is a good idea—even if you're inside.
Participants must be 10 years old or over. Anyone under 18 must be supervised by an adult for the full duration of the session. A short consent and information form will need to be completed on arrival.
No previous experience is necessary. If you’re strong enough to pull back the bowstring, you’re ready to give it a go. Everything you need is provided, and the instructor will guide you from start to finish.
Sessions are led by a qualified, experienced archery coach with a background in professional sports coaching. With national-level certifications and a friendly, encouraging teaching style, your instructor focuses on helping each person progress and enjoy the experience—whether you're trying archery for the first time or brushing up old skills.
Unlike larger venues, this setup offers private, small-group sessions where the pace and content are adapted to the group. You won’t be sharing your slot with strangers, and there’s no pressure—just an engaging, safe environment to learn, have fun, and see how satisfying it feels to hit the target.
This session focuses on Olympic-style target archery using modern recurve bows. You'll be aiming at static targets set at a distance, with guidance from a qualified instructor to help improve your technique and accuracy. The session is structured to be suitable for both beginners and those with some prior experience.
It’s not field or aerial archery—just straightforward target shooting in a controlled environment. You’ll be shown how to load, aim, and release safely, and can expect to work on building consistency through repeated practice on the range.
Not at all. The session is designed to be completely beginner-friendly. The instructor will talk you through everything from how to stand to how to shoot, so no prior knowledge is necessary. If you’ve never picked up a bow before, you’ll still be able to get involved straight away.
For those with a little experience, the instructor can adjust the session to help you refine your technique. The small group size and private setup make it easy to personalise the experience to your level.
Sessions go ahead in all weather conditions thanks to the on-site indoor barn. If the weather isn’t suitable for outdoor shooting, the activity is simply moved inside. The barn is spacious and fully set up for archery with the same equipment and instruction provided.
The barn isn't heated, though, so you’ll need to dress appropriately for the season. Even in winter, the indoor space keeps the session dry and enjoyable.
Yes, children from 10 years old and up are welcome to take part. As long as they're strong enough to pull back the bowstring and follow basic instructions, they'll be able to get involved. The session is run with a calm, encouraging teaching style that works well with younger participants.
It’s important to note that under-18s must be accompanied by an adult throughout the session, and a form will need to be filled in on arrival. This is to ensure safety and proper supervision at all times.
You’ll be using modern recurve bows, the same type commonly used in Olympic competition. These bows are lightweight but powerful and suitable for both adults and children. All necessary safety gear, arrows, and targets are also provided as part of the session.
The equipment is maintained to a high standard, and the instructor will help you get set up with the correct size and draw strength. There’s no need to bring anything of your own—everything you need will be ready for you when you arrive.
Yes, the session is designed to accommodate private groups of up to 10 people. With up to five people shooting at a time, larger groups will take turns, usually in pairs. This keeps the pace relaxed and gives everyone a chance to shoot multiple times.
There’s no mixing of groups, so you’ll only ever be sharing the space with people you booked with. This makes it ideal for families, small parties, or groups of friends who want to try something different together.
After booking, you’ll receive directions via email that include a What3Words location to make it easy to find. The entrance is marked by a two-bladed wind turbine, and there’s a clearly defined track that leads down to the barn where the session takes place.
Once at the end of the track, you can park between the barns. It’s a rural location, so give yourself plenty of time to arrive and make sure you check the directions before you leave.
