Try archery outdoors in the beautiful Tweed Valley, with a session that’s open to all levels. Whether you’re new to the sport or have some experience, this activity is designed to be accessible, fun, and safe for everyone aged 8 and over.
The session begins with a welcome and a clear, easy-to-follow safety briefing. You’ll be introduced to modern recurve bows and shown how to use them with correct technique. Instructors are on hand throughout to support individuals at different levels, offering tips on grip, stance, and aim.
You’ll take part in target shooting, guided games, and small challenges to help you build confidence and improve accuracy. Sessions are informal but structured, with an emphasis on safety and enjoyment. The group will be supported by friendly instructors who keep things light while maintaining high safety standards. Equipment is fully adjustable to suit different sizes and strengths.
This outdoor archery range is located just outside the town of Peebles in the Scottish Borders, around an hour’s drive south of Edinburgh. It’s set in open countryside with views of rolling hills and surrounded by woodland and trails, making it a peaceful and enjoyable place to spend time outdoors. The area is known for its natural beauty and wide range of outdoor activities.
Peebles itself is a welcoming town with independent shops, riverside walks along the Tweed, and plenty of options for food and drink if you want to make a day of it. There’s free parking close to the activity site, and the location is easily accessible by car from Edinburgh, Galashiels, or other nearby towns in the Borders. It’s an ideal spot for combining a short activity with a scenic outing.
There’s no previous archery experience required. All sessions are beginner-friendly and ideal for mixed ability groups.
Participants should be reasonably comfortable following instructions in a group setting. The minimum age is 8, but younger archers will be given extra support to help them feel confident.
The centre is led by qualified instructors who are experienced in adapting sessions for all ages and group types. Whether it’s a birthday party, a school outing, or a family activity, sessions are well-paced, supportive, and focus on creating a positive experience.

The session is suitable for anyone aged 8 and over. Younger participants are carefully supported with appropriately sized equipment and clear, simple instructions tailored to their level. Instructors are experienced at working with children and ensure that every part of the session is delivered at a pace that suits them, with close supervision and encouragement.
Safety is always the top priority. A full briefing is given at the start, and instructors oversee every shot to make sure all participants are following best practice. The equipment used is adjustable and well-maintained, and the outdoor range layout is designed to keep everyone safe while still having a fun and relaxed experience.
Not at all — this session is designed specifically with beginners in mind, although those with some prior experience are also welcome. The coaching focuses on building solid technique from the ground up, so no background knowledge is needed. You'll be shown everything from how to hold the bow correctly to how to aim, shoot, and improve your accuracy.
For those who have tried archery before, instructors can adapt the session to offer further guidance or set optional challenges to help refine your skills. The flexible format means it’s well suited to mixed ability groups, where everyone can progress at their own level.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing suitable for being outdoors and able to move freely — think layers you can adjust depending on the weather. A long-sleeved top is strongly recommended, as it gives light protection to the inner arm where the bowstring passes. Avoid anything too loose or bulky near the arms.
Waterproofs are also a good idea, as the session runs in most weather conditions. Footwear should be sturdy and suitable for grass or woodland underfoot. You don’t need to bring any equipment — all bows, arrows, arm guards and targets are provided as part of the session.
Yes — the archery activity can be arranged as a private booking for birthday parties, school groups, stag or hen events, or team-building sessions. These private sessions can often be tailored in terms of length, group size, and structure, and may include additional games or competitions suited to the occasion.
It’s best to enquire in advance for larger groups, as availability may vary depending on the time of year. Gift vouchers are also available if you’re looking to give the session as a present, and there may be mobile or off-site options depending on the group’s needs.
Archery sessions run in most weather conditions, including light rain or wind, and the instructors are well practised in making sure the group stays safe and comfortable. Participants should dress appropriately for the forecast and bring layers or waterproofs as needed.
In the event of very poor weather (e.g. high winds or storms) that would make the session unsafe or unworkable, it may be postponed or rescheduled. You’ll be contacted in advance wherever possible, and the team will do their best to offer alternative dates or arrangements that suit your schedule.
